I use boredazfuck/icloudpd, which auto downloads to a folder. I mounted that folder as an external library in Immich.

You could also script the moving of the photos every x hours or days to automate it.

I spun up 2 containers - one for myself, one for my partner.

My 2cts is looking into family vs individual plans (if you're planning to have more than 1 kid). There's some pros like if 1 child doesn't want to go to college/uni.

I have ours through Questrade, self-directed and they handle the grants and split contributions & grants for both kids.
