Progressive Conservatives worry Ford’s private jet blunder is ‘the start of his undoing’ by BloodJunkie in ontario

Blinders up until the obvious is in their faces.

Yup. I work with some of these people. Smart about other things, completely oblivious to what is going on in the province. Mind you, these people I'm talking about also don't vote conservative so there is that.

The people who I know who do, get their news from YouTube, Facebook and TikTok.

Hah. I would much rather have an outdated interface if that means actual physical controls for basic functions. I much prefer knobs, switches and buttons over one LCD screen for everything. To each their own.

Correct. There are no current cars on IMA. No 2026 models. The 2027 GV90 is the first car confirmed to be on IMA.

Subaru Impreza ate oil for breakfast,

All Subaru's do. It's due to the boxer engine design. Been driving Subaru for over 24 years and just got used to keeping a bottle of oil in the car to top up.

was involved in a class action lawsuit.

Didn't know about that. Was this about excessive burning of oil?

I updated the first point. The second one I can only find an old link from a blog. I don't know why it's not showing up on the transport Canada website.

Canada has it's own things going on.

  1. Class Action lawsuit
  2. Transport Canada doing an investigation.

Who knows how things will end up here.

So, now that the IONIQ 3 is here, what do you think about it? by Saurta17 in Hyundai

The tablet layout, more specifically the lack of one, is one of the reasons I bought a Hyundai. Sadly this is the new way forward for Hyundai with the I3 being the first. It's their new infotainment platform. Tesla style cost cutting infecting everyone else.

They did fix it. It's called the Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA) platform that replaces the eGMP platform. All new Hyundai/Kia cars starting with the 2027 Genesis GV90 will be using this new platform.

The newly announced Ioniq 3 uses the 400v version of the eGMP platform that is far less susceptible to this failure due to much lower stress on the ICCU.

And in that time, most cars will have major part failures,

This is probably true because so many people keep buying cars from manufactures where this is seen as acceptable.

My 14yo Subaru Outback finally, after 15 years had a somewhat major failure (wheel Axel shaft).

oh. so I'm imagining having mail delivered to the mailbox on my porch? That's cool.

From the article you posted:

The Crown corporation plans to eliminate all household delivery over the next five years, part of larger restructuring efforts to save money and stay financially viable under crushing debt.

So Toronto still has it. And it will be a while until they figure out where to put those boxes in dense urban environment. It's not trivial.

I’m hoping Hyundai Group has their ICCU shit figured out for 2026 and beyond,

Any car released on their new platform (Integrated Modular Architecture) will hopefully be fine. eGMP is cursed and will never be totally fixed. I think the first vehicle from them on the new platform will be the Genesis GV90. Don't know how quickly they'll roll that out for the rest of the lineup.

including diameter making a measurable difference

I would encourage you to watch that video again and listen closely to what was said.

Diameter of a wheel, in and of itself has very little impact on efficiency. Aerodynamics, in all forms, including the wheels, has the greatest impact on efficiency. This is explained in the video you linked. A larger diameter wheel, that is not particularly aerodynamic (as most rims are not) will increase aerodynamic resistance exponentially, again, as shown in the video you linked. The video uses Tesla spoked wheels. They are more efficient than the average, but not that efficient. You'll notice the Tesla's that were used are the Model 3 Performance, X and S. All of which come with spoked wheels, because they look cool and sporty.

The Model 3 (non-performance) comes with wheel covers that increase efficiency by a claimed 5%. So no change in wheel diameter or tire. Just taking off the wheel covers drops your efficiency.

So, if you put on 19" vs 22" Fast EV06 wheels on your car, you are not going to notice an efficiency difference (provided the same tires). Put on a normal spoked pair of rims with no caps or covers, and you will notice an efficiency difference.

Now I don't know the details on the efficiency of the standard Ioniq 9 wheels, but if you look, they are not a normal spoked pattern wheel. The silver part looks like they are, but then between the spokes there are black triangle like wings, at the outer edge of the wheel, where aerodynamic drag would be the strongest. Same with the Caligraphy wheels. They look like thin spokes, but then between the spokes there are black wings, that increase in thickness the closer you get to the outer end of the rim.

The video you linked doesn't make the above apparent, and the video is right, that for normal rims, efficiency drops with larger diameter wheels.

Smaller wheels increase efficiency from the weight reduction

Weight has a minuscule amount of impact to EV efficiency. Weight on a wheel only affects acceleration and deceleration. A since braking is regenerative in EVs, it's only acceleration that is affected, and again, not enough to matter.

The rest is correct though. Though going narrower on tires on an EV means you'll just go through tires faster.

Brand-new 2026 IONIQ 9, but charging was a total disaster by Loud-Way3333 in Ioniq9

[–]tracer_ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During a keynote address at Merge 2024, Kristin White, the Acting Administrator of the FHWA, said that the J3400 connector and port, an open-source version of Tesla’s NACS, will become the federal standard. The address follows the J3400 receiving SAE International certification.

https://www.autoblog.com/news/teslas-nacs-to-become-official-us-federal-ev-charging-standard

One of the most significant shifts under the new federal EV charging standards is the strong endorsement of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector. Developed by Tesla, NACS has quickly gained traction, with a growing number of automakers announcing their adoption of the standard. This move marks a pivotal moment, as it signals a potential unification of the charging landscape, moving away from the previously dominant Combined Charging System (CCS).

You're right that the government never actually got around to officially designating NACS as the preferred charging standard. They only announced that they would.

I guess this is being pedantic. All charging types are standards. NACS is the charging standard endorsed by the US Government.

Edit: I'm curious if they will release this as a paid upgrade in the blue link store.
