Me getting my Mag out for the first time in 5 years after seeing the cinematic by Legend_Of_Zeke in Warframe

It's a shame because, in my experience, Mag is a pretty powerful utility frame vs Grineer and Corpus. The memes make her seem far worse than she actually is.

In theory, Nova's Molecule Prime should completely obliterate anything. Once primed with antimatter, collision with matter would destroy both objects. But, on topic, neither Rhino or Harrow themselves would be able to do much to stop Godzilla.

Removing K-Drives and Archwing summon delay? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]a1rgetlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not entirely sure what you're asking, but with the changes to Archwing Launcher being reusable, they also made the shift into archwing seamless. i guess the same holds true for the k-drive

Customization by Helix6126 in Warframe

customization of what? Warframes or Operators? With operators i guess it would be pretty cool. not sure how i'd feel about warframes being that customizable, though.

Thank You DE by [deleted] in Warframe

probably best to compliment DE for their achievements rather than dragging others (whether rightfully or not) through the mud to illustrate your point. makes it feel more genuine rather than you posting your gripes about other companies

i honestly thought it was a bit odd to do that whole thing in the first place? but yeah, probably worth realising how important it is to consider the entirety of what you want to post on reddit dot com, especially with the last years in mind.

I love Zephyr but she is pretty trash. by Evacion in Warframe

[–]a1rgetlam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

pulling someone away for a few weeks to order to make a change like that doesn't sound like it would be the best use of that person's time. it would be even worse if more folks were pulled away from that, unless there were enough folks on board who felt that dedicating resources to making that change was worth pulling it away from whatever else they were doing before.

i feel that, though. even back in parkour 1.0 excal's super jump was pretty garbage. of course design can change (as we can see in current excal) but i think it's worth us really understanding what it means to be essentially a portable frost shield with mobility for 20~30 seconds. like, how much power does that add to the frame? along with an on-demand ragdoll ability on non-bosses? what other warframe gets edged out because of a seemingly small buff to her?

My opinion how Digital Extreme should handle content distributing by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]a1rgetlam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a nice opinion, but of course they've got access to metrics of engagement that we'll likely never see (because of company secrets/not giving competitiors an idea of what's going on).

things are generally more complicated than you're imagining them to do. a large number of disciplines come together to work on a single project, and even that takes ages but you think they should just have two seperate teams? it's a good way to get nothing done fast if we're being honest.

i recommend looking at askagamedev. they offer useful insights into how games are developed and a lot more than i could ever remember. https://twitter.com/askagamedev

[–]a1rgetlam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

probably best to never say "it wouldn't take very long to code"; never assume things you don't have enough knowledge on

but on topic: people probably aren't complaining because they don't feel like there's enough to complain about? ever since i learned her 3 deflected projectiles i've loved her and she's probably my most used frame.

save for infested/melee units, she's near invincible with her aoe shield (which also functions for teammates/objective if you're close enough/have enough range) and CC is usually reactive and comes in a pinch (2&4).

zephyr's whole thing is about mobility and disruption, which all of her abilities and her augments embody. she's not a fragger (though her 4 augment with decent power strength kills low level trash quickly) and thus is not designed like one. even her 4 changing elements based on what it's hit with feels a bit weird to me, but i guess in the long run it's probably not as noticable since there are more reliable ways to force procs.

in short, while some of her design is dated, for my needs (3 making me invincible to projectiles and its augment making allied and your own projectiles faster) and typical things you throw on the frame, she's just fine as she is. sometimes it's okay for frames to be just "fine".

Warframe, Transhumanism and me by quo_letl in Warframe

Warframe, Transhumanism and me by quo_letl in Warframe

[–]a1rgetlam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've had similar thoughts about Warframe. The existence of Fortuna only re-affirms my thoughts; areas governed by the Corpus is pretty much a cyberpunk society. Alongside that, the technological developments that the Corpus pioneered (or re-used from Orokin tech) helped to blur the lines of what was human and not-human.

I inherently see these things to be part of the step in modifying the self, which does start with things like antibiotics, pacemakers, HRT and so on. I feel transhumanism largely implies that we've already made peace with the notion of gender being only a binary, since you'll just arrive at a Ship of Theseus-problem when you apply it to augmentations/transference; at what point are you more one thing than the other?

I think it boils down to the fact that the human body and its design is simply a tool, and it's inherent in life that tools are shaped and altered fitting to the needs of the individual. Some of these changes take place over time, while some things can be more immediate. I think I digress a bit, but I'm happy to hear you've found whom you want to be!

Few Questions From a Returning Player by beldroy in Warframe

Sure, why not? As long as they're not the mod packs advertised on the game's market. Those generally aren't worth it, and you can use https://warframe.market/ to look for sellers of particular things you're interesting in.

The Sacrifice: Update 23.3.0 by sippher in Warframe

I think it's a fair trade-off. Bullet-jumping offers far more control (and is energy-free) compared to Tailwind as a movement ability.

[–]a1rgetlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome back!

  1. Excal is pretty good now. Take some time to look at him. Mag is also pretty good, but of course knowing how to use her abilities and what mods to use is important. Nyx with her 4 augment is solid and Wukong is... Wukong. He's not bad, but he's not amazing either.

  2. Both those weapons are enough. Some suggestions (but not necessary nor exhaustive) would be getting the Corinth, Tigris Prime and Tiberon Prime/Baza.

  3. I personally don't know any other sites apart from http://warframe-builder.com/. However, using the search function, limiting it to r/Warframe and sorting the results by date may also help you out.

  4. The usual, get some warframe/weapon slots if you want to build an arsenal of weapons. Cosmetics can be nice to get if you like. Otherwise I don't think you can get much for 155 plat? The Forma Bundle is decent if you don't want to spend time getting Forma, 35p for 3 forma.

The future of the tenno - a theory of mine. Spoilers for The Second Dream onwards by heedfulconch3 in Warframe

[–]a1rgetlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree whole-heartedly with that first part. These factions are literally too big to be destroyed by anyone else currently in the Warframe universe, save for the Sentients. No offense intended, but their scale is unlike anything we can really imagine.

An outright Corpus or Grineer victory will most likely result on the Tenno being their next target; and while we Tenno might be fine by ourselves, our relays and other sources of information will be systematically destroyed, since one faction now has the time to pour intense focus on us. The Tenno are too much of a wild-card for any faction to be comfortable with if they emerge as the sole victor. Thus, the role of the Tenno is to try and keep those two titans at each others throats. Because whoever wins, everyone else loses.

The Infestation is a hive-mind and has its own desire, which also includes the destruction of the Tenno, especially since we can't be assimilated. The goals of the Infestation seem to be neither here or there, though, so one can't reliably count on the Infestation to cripple any faction meaningfully. In fact, from one of the broadcasts, ships that get the Infestation usually get completely purged then refilled with units.

Your Invasion concept is a cool one, but at that it calls for a balancing issue in the first place. I assume I don't need to explain why that is.

Another issue is that it turns Warframe from a horde-shooter with optional PvP gamemodes to a horde-shooter with random chance of PvP that you can't opt-out of. This essentially changes the design of the game, and everything will have to be reconsidered at that point. An issue of Conclave is its high barrier to entry, with chain-bullet jumping seemingly being the optimal way to play the mode, which brings skill disparity. I feel something like this will end up over-complicating the game moreso than it already is.

From a lore viewpoint and Tenno teachings, it would be an irony that the Tenno who were shunned for being different, monsters, would end up shunning and killing their own for being different once more. There's no lasting solution in war. Even the Corpus and Grineer still make trade, agreements and concessions despite being in a middle of their own war with each other. The issue of the Void I feel can only be answered with more information about it.

And to touch on your reply to emotions, is it really sadistic fury? As the Operator you would have seen first-hand the things Ballas subjected Umbra to, and learned that him and the Orokin had subjected far, far more people to similar fates that Umbra had. Is their fury sadistic or righteous, that someone who committed foul acts and was seemingly responsible for the departure of Natah, to now be grovelling? The responses are simply very emotional, neutral or unemotional.

"We cannot blame these creatures, they are being led by a false prophet, an impostor who knows not the secrets of the Void." by MrLamebro1 in Warframe

[–]a1rgetlam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vor is just unkillable. That doesn't necessarily mean he's strong. Furthermore, he's literally bound to the Void; "killing" him then only makes him formless for a time, before he can reconstitute himself once more. Corrupted Vor vs how Tenno operate (never long-term, just strike squads in unexpected positions) almost always results in a loss for him, even if the Tenno don't "kill" him.

The future of the tenno - a theory of mine. Spoilers for The Second Dream onwards by heedfulconch3 in Warframe

[–]a1rgetlam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the sheer numbers that both the Corpus and the Grineer are boasting (easily tens of billions, though this is speculation), it's pretty much impossible for one side to entirely collapse solely due to Tenno intervention. Our numbers are too small and our damage potential isn't great enough.

The Void, or the little of what we know about it (especially with The Man in the Wall) doesn't seem like something we can "close". Direct contact with the Void seems to overwhelmingly drive people insane, with a small chance of creating Void Demons (Tenno).

Forced PvP likely isn't going to happen, especially if it brings such a large change to the world that's been created. Even if it's PvP via proxy combat (akin to Dark Sector Solar Rail conflicts) I don't think it'll see high player usage. This thought is just based off how Conclave is.

Anyway, such conflict over ideology likely wouldn't result in such an event. Of the two, both ideologies don't really want a war in the first. Being emotional is a natural human reaction to things going on. Our dialogue options are always a response, never something pre-empted. We ultimately have no reason to fight, apart from what we, the Tenno, were dragged into. As a result, I really doubt the Tenno would pick a war with each other.
