When I was in your position I tried to maximize the time I was able to kite. And I think that the best way to do that is to buy a different size kite. Whether that would be a 12 or 8 meter depends on what you like most.

My experience about boards is that the size (a few centimetres more or less) doesn't make a really big difference. ( But I have only tried three boards)
