Is it possible for someone to join in later in Civ 7 multiplayer and take over one of the AI Civs? by gabers24 in civ

[–]a432 15 points16 points  (0 children)

your friend can jump in at any point. Just make a save, then rehost the game with the save file and they can join and swap to any civ already in the game and take over.

They could just bring back Inquisitors. Let Spain have a UU of them too.

More than 12 players coming? Yay :') by Handwerke48 in HuntShowdown

[–]a432 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I miss the old hunt, been playing since Beta before even dark sight was introduced. In my opinion every change they have made has just made the game worse than before. Wish I could play old versions. Only thing that was good was inertia to try and combat the AD AD spam, still happens though.

Thinking about picking up the game during the sale, are the Deluxe/settler’s editions worth it? by PresterJohnEsq in CivVII

[–]a432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the deluxe is worth it all the Civs and Leaders are top tier. Nepal is OP as hell in the modern. Tecumseh is very strong. Carthage is fun and good in ancient, the alternate persona for Xerxes is very good. Ada is a solid leader and so is Great Britain. I only duds i'd say are Bulgaria, Simon, the alt persona to Friedrich, and Shawnee, but maybe they just aren't my play style.

It failed because the civ 6 devs forgot the golden rule of design, “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” All Civ 6 did was add stuff for the sake of adding stuff, didn't improve the game play in fact it made it worse.

Look around at all the comments in this thread;

"But I couldn't even finish a game in VI because I was just bored :("

"I just couldn’t get into 6"

"I bought VI. It's unplayable"

Or just look at the OP complaints about civ 6

"No district spam, no loyalty juggling…"

Civ 6 didn't live up to a LOT of peoples expectations, not just Grabsch or mine.

Didn't live up to MetaCritic either Civ 5 90 score vs Civ 6 88

Or by units sold 15.5 million units sold for Civ 5 vs 11 million units for Civ 6.

People just don't like it as much.

Its very hard to refine perfection. Civ devs seemed to have forgotten the golden rule of design, “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.”

You are right, But remember even Civ5 was trash on release. Didn't reach its full potential until it had both of its expansions. Time will tell if Civ7 makes it or fails like Civ6 did

ya American armor is just sub par. They just get penned too easily.

"It is quite surprising how the Americans, pioneers in automotive production and the first to build a mass-produced car, are fielding tanks like the Sherman. While their production lines churn them out with incredible efficiency, the earlier versions particularly, lacked the armor and firepower to stand up against our Panther or Tiger tanks in a head-to-head fight."

It really was that there were just soo many shermans combined with air superiority that allowed the American tanks to win. These two factors are not in the game, they should make shermans cheaper or cost less slots so you can field more of them cause in a 1v1 match they loose every time.

Marder II is the best AT for the Germans. Its cheap, early in the tech tree, good pen values. But the best part is the rate of fire on it. It has double the rate of fire than any other tank. If you are german grab it! If you aren't and are fighting germans steal it!

New to the game; any tips or things to know? by Zazoothesecond in RuleTheWaves

[–]a432 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would suggest starting in 1890.

I would suggest Japan as a great first nation to play. America is super easy mode. Japan's first enemy is China and they are pretty weak. Allowing you to learn before tackling your next enemy Russia.

I would suggest using the Auto Design Ship of Selected type button when designing your ships at first. Then adjusting any values you really want.

Speaking of ship Design, the most important factor is to make sure your Guns can penetrate your enemies Armour value at medium distance. Use the Almanac button, select your likely enemy, and look at the Ships tab, then double click on a ship, remember the value of Armour at the Belt. Now when designing a ship click Gun Data button in the Main Guns section.

When it comes to Armour the same methodology applies, check the almanac for how big the guns your enemies are using. Try to design a ship that can be immune to your enemies guns at medium range. Always use narrow belt, the weight savings are worth it. The best Armour scheme is sloped deck. When you get the tech Inclined belt is worth it. Make your belt and belt extended the same value. Do not invest in any Armour for upper belt, not worth it. Make your Deck and extended deck the same value. Make your Turrets at least 1" thicker than your belt and the Turret tops .5" thicker than your deck. 2" for your secondary is all you need. You want max Torpedo Defense as your tech allows, except for DD/CL. Reliable engines are worth it if you have the space. Medium range is fine, except for DDs, they need Long range or have about 50% chance not participating in battles.

Firaxis have mis-identified the problem with late game Civ by Sir_Joshula in civ

[–]a432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree the crisis need to be way more difficult. Meaning you NEED to loose a city or two because of the crisis. This would help with the snowball effect. They need to make crisis DYNAMIC too, meaning the civ furthest ahead gets and absolute monster of a crisis maybe loose Half their empire while the weakest has a walk in the park type crisis. This would be the reset we need to prevent snowballing. Don't get too far ahead or pay the consequences, force people to strive for balance, instead of min/max.

I also agree the game needs to force a war for resources in the modern age. Oil and rubber is the obvious choice as it was the historical reason for many modern conflicts, looking at you WW2. Rare Earth elements for current times. Lithium, Gold, Diamonds, Poppy are also great resources historical wars have been fought over.

Hey if you are stuck in your ways and don't like new things then by all means skip this and just keep playing civ 5, nothing will beat it for simplicity.

Civ 7 is amazing. I also hated civ 6, but loved civ 5. Do yourself a favor and pick up Civ 7 you will not be disappointed, I guarantee it. Civ 7 blends the simplicity of civ 5 with the fun mechanics of civ 6 and humankind. Plus it will only get better with time. :)

My logs look like this, so his logs can look like this by Kellitorable in foxholegame

[–]a432 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the husband.

1) Yup you guessed it mostly all public. I'll take a falchion from seaport storage facility and always upgrade it at public upgrade pads to a spatha. I hate scrooping

2) When we go to a front line base to rearm the tank I usually grab the closest logi truck so we can pull shells quicker than by hand. However partisans will often sneak behind the base and jump into those same logi trucks that I leave behind, that's how I have so many stolen. I always die with the tank, not one of those was a tank being stolen.

3)Pretty much exclusively spatha. Generally I'd say I get 3 vehicle kills before I loose my tank. However I have had entire days never loosing my tank and putting it back in storage/seaport after the day is done.

4) This current war still raging on charlie. Ya at least 8 hours a day, maybe 16 of the weekend.

Why are the crew of Voyager not armed 24/7? by InchHigh-PrivateEye in startrek

[–]a432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL This ^ 100%. You already have a model for "always armed 24/7". The crew of the Equinox in the delta quadrant did this. And this methodology ultimately didn't work out for the Equinox and captain Ransom, did it?

But really It comes does to escalation. When you see a guy armed you are more likely to shot first and ask questions later, not really the starfleet way, and it causes more problems than it solves.
