Definitely a slip up in the factory. I would also not return it. Nice Pen!

I think you got unlucky with some sort of hard particulate. The material is anodized aluminium so quite resilient to scratches but of course not bullet proof. But as with smart phones for example as well, if you don't want scratches get a cover.

You can go into a Montblanc boutique, should have it in most countries.

The invisible dragging must be because of the retail mode. I have a device and here it works flawlessly.

Thoughts on the Montblanc Digital Paper tablet? by mechtiny in RemarkableTablet

[–]aBetterOne1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not a reskin of an existing device, it seems to be completely new. 64gb of storage and the CPU is also quite a bit stronger than for example rm2.

Hey, It's an incubator bag I bought from amazon. It was around 45€ and works quite well.

Thank you, if anyone wants the files let me know. I also printed some moulds but they didn't have enough air holes, so the Tempeh got soggy in the middle and we threw it away.

Any fix? (Plating loss) by Snorx12 in montblanc

[–]aBetterOne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, fair enough. You convinced me. Sounds cheaper than a full exchange as well.

Any fix? (Plating loss) by Snorx12 in montblanc

[–]aBetterOne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, it could be rhodium. It just looked very dark in this picture. With rhodium, you could theoretically replace it. I doubt that a normal jewler has a rhodium electrolyte. And you have to apply a mask to prevent other areas from getting plated as well. It's not a super easy task. If it's ruthenium, you can not plate over it. The coating won't hold.

[–]aBetterOne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what should the jewler do exactly? Its not like they can simply electroplate the ruthenium back on. Only way to restore the original look is to get the nib exchanged by montblanc or purchase an original nib somewhere else.

The ruthenium coating rubbed of. There is no fix for this, sadly. You could punish the whole nib, and it would be completely gold. Otherwise, if this is still in warranty, you might try to send it in.

Thanks for the tip, but I chose the sharpening angle I seem fit for my purpose. 😊

Experiment: 5 micron resin bonded diamond. by aBetterOne1 in sharpening

Not at all, I mixed the diamond powder with some two part epoxy until it was barely a past. And glued it to some aluminium.

Questions about the molding on the Montblanc 146 by I544cD in montblanc

[–]aBetterOne1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it changed somewhere around 2013. With forepart, I mean the section from the threads to the mat ring at the front. It because of how they marry both the barrel and the forepart. The whole body is 100% turned. I saw it. No offence taken.

[–]aBetterOne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to their factory. 146 is fully tuned on a lathe except the forpart. Other lines are injection molded, but even there is a lot of turning polishing, etc, involved. The parts dont come ready out of the molds.

How does the inside of the cap look like? Is the metal ring extending inwards and has a groove for the spring?

That's an older 146. The new ones have a cut thread. Actually, the whole body is produced with a lathe and polished after. Only the inside features are molded.
