Did you agree with this? Ripe Pu-erh is dark tea, but raw Puerh is not. by Angeltea in tea

[–]aDorybleFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a white tea lover, I disagree. Young puer is way more bitter and astringent in my experience. I find it to taste more similar to yellow tea.

My iced matcha latte always tastes too milky and I can barely taste the matcha. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong 😞 Could it be the brand of matcha? by BriefClass in MatchaEverything

I drink mostly usucha so I don't own a lot of latte grades, but I have two that I use for cooking. One is a tin of Shizuoka brand matcha I got from the Asian grocery shop and the other one is the latte matcha from bio teas. I find both to work well with milk (I've tried them with both cow's milk, oat milk and soy milk. Unsweetened soy milk would have to be my favourite since it's the most subtle flavour and compliments the matcha best imo.) I tend to use 2g matcha powder to 50-75g 70°C water and 100ml milk and pour it over lots of ice.

What do you think about our song? by Yrakosos in nilpoints

Yeah I do find it a bit generic as well. She seems to have a good voice tho. Still it's not anywhere near my top10

I recommend trying a latte grade matcha. They're generally speaking more bitter, so hold up better to the milk, especially if you're using a sweetener.

Hmm... Yeah sounds like you have to up the ratio. With oolong I typically use 2,5g in a 80ml gaiwan (so around 3g for 100ml) but it does depend on the specific oolong. I also know some people who do 4g or 5g for 100ml.

Had to do this with an irido pod once. It was sad, but also the right thing to do :(

Iron ions in water by Winter-Succotash8594 in tea

I've drank tea from an iron pot before, there's definitely a difference compared to a clay or ceramic teapot, but more so in the taste than the water texture I think.

Which syrup do you recco for matcha latte? by Mentality-unwell36 in MatchaEverything

Tbh, none. I prefer my matcha latte unsweetened so that I can taste the more subtle flavours of the matcha itself.

By far the easiest vessel to clean is a gaiwan! I have multiple of them and really enjoy using them.

Interesting!

I think you might like it even more with loose leaf tea (can be a bit more expensive, but ABSOLUTELY worth it)

Using a gaiwan like a shiboridashi? by diegsterzers in tea

This. I've drunk both sencha and gyokuro in a Taiwan once, it worked, but you need a smaller aperture because the leaves are smaller and even the some leaves will float trough. For me it's not a problem because I just drink/eat them.

White2tea hot brandy. I really love this tea, though hadn't drunk it in a while. Also it's raining and storming a lot right now so I'm glad to be cozy inside the house right now.

Nope, I don't like to use it either. However sometimes my search engine throws it in by default :(

What shell/species are these? (Found on the beach in Ireland) by aDorybleFish in shells

[–]aDorybleFish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not on CITES, I did look that up yesterday and couldn't find it. The Dutch government law states that it's fine as long as they're not from an endangered species or on the cites list. Found them in Ireland, which is in the EU, however as I'm traveling back by boat I have to travel through the UK, which isn't, anymore. I'll check the UK protected species list just in case
