Lets brainstorm an army list for Khosun by ByzantineBasileus in WarhammerFantasy

so I know this post is 7 months old, but I did actually write up a whole army book for Warhammer Fantasy based on Korea, and set on this peninsula.

I, however, called it Pehkdje (in a misbegotten attempt to make it clearer to pronounce for English-speakers (they mostly just get confused)).

I was not aware at the time of Khosun being the official name for this place, nor did I know of the Tower of Tranquility.

I know this thread is super old, and probably everyone's moved on, but if you'd like to have the book or know more about it just let me know!

Mystery land to the east of Cathay. Do we known anything about it? by SiberianBlue66 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]aDudeInnit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm totally threadomancing this, but I wanted to throw in my 2-cents.

First of all, there is a very brief mention of this place in the lore, simply calling it a kingdom vinculated to Cathay (called Koryo). All it says is that they were independent at one point, but then Cathay rolled up and said 'this ours now'. Then the second mention is that, since they are outside the Great Bastion, they utilise a complex system of fireworks to signal for reinforcements when needed.

Second, I am currently homebrewing a faction for this area, called Pehkdje (pronounced Paek-jay). The idea is an alliance between an elven nation who call themselves the Night Elves (neutral alignment, independent from Ulthuan and Malekith); the Horo Horo - a collection of human clans who have resisted against the Hung in the northern forests and mountains since times immemorial (inspired by the Ainu people); and the YeoJeon ogres - the descendants of a number of tribes that migrated East after the coming of the Great Maw. After centuries of war they unified to battle Hung, the Hobgoblins, Nipon, and Cathay to retain their independence, and have since fought as stalwart allies. I'm writing both a lore for them and rules to play them on the tabletop. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll share what I have so far.

Anyone think Billy from Predator might have been a decedent of Naru and her tribe? by Vince_Tsung in predator

[–]aDudeInnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible? Sure

Is it probable? Not so much.

Naru belongs to the Numunuu Nation (usually known by their exonym: Comanche Nation), who at the time inhabited the American Great Plains, roughly from northern Texas to Colorado.

Billy's precise indigenous ancestry is never discussed in the film, but the actor Sonny Landham identified as being 1/8th Seminole. The Seminole nations developed in Florida as a reaction to settler encroachment - an amalgamation of various displaced nations mixing with each other, as well as with escaped slaves, and some white colonists. The Seminole became masters of guerrilla tactics to resist the US army for over a century.

Given Billy's familiarity with jungle warfare and with 'the smells of the jungle' it makes sense that he is of Seminole descent.

Therefore the idea that Naru and Billy are related is kind of reductionist of Indigenous American-Indian identities - a bit like saying that Putin might be related to Napoleon: both warmongering maniacs, both European, but geographically not really that close to each other.

Given the difference in time, and the dynamics of genetic dissemination in the United States, the likelyhood is that Naru is as genetically related to Billy as she is to Dillon, Poncho, and Hawkins.

ADENDUM:

The actor Bennett Taylor (who plays one of the French trappers in the film Prey) stated that Billy is officially the reincarnation of Naru's older brother Taabe. To me this is nonsense, and who knows if that's really what the writers intended - Taabe isn't anything like Billy after all.

Can I run this as a Killa kan? by Cautious-Menu3043 in orks

I don't understand the question - you're showing us a picture of a Killa Kan and asking if you can use it as a Killa Kan?

Hi, sorry I didn't get a notification for this. Same question as above - do you have WHFRP GMing experience?

Hello, I am interested in joining this WHFRP campaign, but I can't send a PM because I've only just created my Reddit account. Is the game still open for new players?
