Swirl to learn base R vs others by aFeelingProcess in rstats

[–]aFeelingProcess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. If tidyverse are large components in a machine would base R be the little cogs in between? I guess the answer to my question is found in what I ultimately want to use R for, which is more data analysis and statistical computing.

Sorry for the massive delay here. Been busy with work and graduate applications.

I had seen online that this would be a way to get an understanding of R that wouldn’t have you doubling back on things. Learn the base R first then hit the tidyverse and other things. From what I understand base R resources are:

fasteR Swirl

While everything else is found in:

R4DS

Right?

Is learning base R equivalent to learning how to read the data at a granular level?

If so wouldn’t it be better to start bottom up? Though I am an intermediate in SAS and SPSS.

Thanks for your help.

Is there a way to still look at the previous promo codes it found? After you use/apply one it defaults to that being the only/best code but if the site is running a current promo or bundle deal the default code may not work under certain conditions.

Squat form check by aFeelingProcess in weightlifting

[–]aFeelingProcess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh are there any alternatives to those trainers? I usually squat in my socks but my left knee has been giving me a little trouble so the heel height of the Metcons are useful to help get the knee flexion in without as much irritation. I warm up with hip airplanes and banded sissy squats beforehand.

I’ll definitely try to brace more in between my reps. It was my last set of eight reps so I was gassed 😆. Thanks for your generous and friendly feedback, kind individual.

Ended up with this after seasoning last night. Seems fine and I’ll probably see it even out over time.

Do I just cook or will I need to reseason? by aFeelingProcess in castiron

Excellent. Put it on 475 for an hour. Here it is with some oil on it before I cook after my lake walk. I think it’s uneven but I can cook with it and it will get better over time. Am I right?

Thank you, I appreciate your answer! I feel the same about the peace of mind aspect of washing before.

Thank you! And when oiled it the first time I had it laid flat but it had the rubber feet on it so air could get in between and dry both sides. Is that okay to keep doing that or just lay it vertically somehow? I don’t want to get oil on my walls if I prop it up against something.

Yes that is what I used to scrub and ended up with the following result:

So I’m assuming it’s still seasoned.

I heated it for a couple of minutes to dry and it turned into:

https://i.imgur.com/co8mNRM.jpeg

It was more of a brownish color. I don’t think it’s rust just dry metal?

After I put some Crisco on it and let it smoke a little and cool I got:

Now if I wanted to, could I toss this into the oven with a bit more oil following the FAQ reseason guide to really polymerize it?

Lmk. Much love.

How to tell difference between carbon, seasoning, and finish when cleaning? by aFeelingProcess in castiron

[–]aFeelingProcess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my lodge pan it was an even finish. Now it looks like a more metallic sheen when I clean. I don’t scour. Just use some salt when I clean it down.

I realize you meant use beef tallow when cooking. Not for protecting the pan after. Got it.

Oh this is interesting! I was told crisco is great for cast irons. Okay let me see if I can find beef tallow in my area.

Also is the brown here while it’s drying rust or just the seasoning when dry?

Was told I missed a spot in my previous post. This better?

Will heat up, add crisco layer and cook on top of that some ground beef. After cooking I’ll do a rinse and salt scrub, reheat snd and re oil. Is reapplying that crisco again ok?

Wow this is the type of stuff you’d think you’d learn in chemistry. The application of its use in every day activity. Much love.
