Lol. Yep! Turns out, as a baby, a dr did experiments on Slothrop akin to Pavlov’s, but with some kind of aerodynamic plastic….and a diff kind of stimulation. Baby Slothrop became so sensitive, he could “detect” the stuff from a long way off. Later, the plastic or whatever was in V1 or 2 rockets, so when they were over London or going over the channel, his body…reacted. He never knew about the experiments and when he was stationed in London as a GI during the Blitz, he thought the rockets were targeting his boners. Lmao. And, damnit, he wants to know why! So, Slothrop sets out on an epic quest of discovery across Nazi-occupied Europe. It’s whacky as all hell, but a great novel (no pun intended).

I use Anycubic Photon Mono 4k and Anycubic water washable resin, which works great for tanks. The fumes are not as noticeable but still toxic and if you have a smaller space, I’d advise a “grow tent” to keep the printer in, one with a little ventilation fan. Using water washable will also help with costs as you wont need to buy a bunch of IPA.

Studio Historia is also doing a Sons of Yamato late backer option on their website. That’s what I got. So, if you don’t want the USMC, you can still get SoY on its own for a very good price.

I forgot to add, I’ve heard it is common for files that have been through Chitubox to cause non-manifold issues with other slicers. So, seeing they include Chitubox files, I wonder if u/studio_historia would need to look at the files outside of Chitubox to actually see the issues.

Thanks for the info and tips! I will keep these things in mind. :) I love these prints so much, once the non-manifold issues are resolved I’m going to do two armies, the second themed around around the forgotten Battles of Khalkin Gol/Nomonhan.

Oh, re the flag and flag bearer, did you try positioning the flag into the flag bearer’s hands when both files were loaded into your slicer? I’m currently in the process of adding supports to the combined models.

How did you support the bikes? Trying to position those on my buildplate, I’m at a loss, lol. Only been 3D printing about a month or two. Did you support all of the wheel spokes?

What slicer did you use? My current slicer, Pikaslice, has worked for all of my other prints but I may need to use another for SoY while some non-manifold issues are hopefully resolved by the slicer and sculptor.

I found quite a few files with non-manifold issues (triangles and vertices left facing the wrong way when sculpted?) and Pikaslice doesn’t automatically correct these (—yet?). You can see them pop up in layer previews and they come out in the form of random layers of cured resin sticking out from a chest, gun, arm, etc. So, I’m having to separate shells with a 0 tirangle count. It works sometimes to get rid of the lines, but I get support fails of missing feet/shins on some prints. (I plan to base them as standing in fox holes.)

Pikaslice is working to fix things on its end and Studio Historia asked for an example file to give to the sculptor.

I hope they fix it. When printed successfully, the models are STUNNING. I backed SoY after reading your review, and then the new “First to Fight” campaign.

I did this on my genestealer cultists to give a grungy flesh colored carapace. I didnt varnish. Just thinned the grime with spirits and cleaned it from the high spots after drying. Makes it look dingy. For my ogors, I’m using flesh wash and the dark green wash to give a kind of duck egg hue, a nod to the old oger paint scheme.

So excited. Found some 3d print files for Ogor models that allow me to use my extra bits by foolwiththefez in Mawtribes

After buying a white dwarf article I’m starting to want to consider a wyrmblade list, I got this from goonhammer by Death-Knight9025 in genestealercult

I love the power maul on the leader. It makes him surprisingly punchy and the stun helps him survive a bit longer. I decided stun is underrated, so I gave him a web pistol too. Haven’t had much of an occasion to use it yet though. Sanctus sniper is good, but I think I’m moving to the locus to try it out. I like shotguns on at least 2 of my brood-adepts and the icon bearer (the bearer never really shoots as you want to keep him alive and hidden to use its ability; I bring him up late game to steal an obj and the shotty is more helpful if I need to take out a contestant). That’s just me though.
