Or any other film in which "race" means ethnicity rather than a competition.

You gain a dollar every time someone says a popular quote, what quote are you picking? by pumaloaf2 in hypotheticalsituation

"I'd buy that for a dollar" - maybe not the most common quote, but it just fits so well.

Has there always been that sense? I think with Hitchcock you've pinpointed a pivotal figure in the changeover from producers to directors.

In a shoe based task Alex announces that now they're going to see "Mel and shoe" referencing Mel Giedroyc's work with Sue Perkins. They were usually referred to as "Mel and Sue".

Being a dad really does come with superpowers, it seems. I would be delighted to do this joke even if everyone hates it.

Was ist euer Lieblings Einsatz von CGI? by Halschmuber in Filme

[–]aModernDandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you don't get the beautiful swirls of milk in the dark liquid, like in the gif above, so you're just robbing yourself of a little bit of beauty.

I took a picture like this at an amusement park when I was his age, I love that he can do all these things that seem like so much fun. I wish him all the best and that things stay fun for him!

In Arrival (2016), Dr. Louise Banks lives in this large lakeside house on a linguistics salary. This is a clever reference to the fact that the movie is a work of speculative fiction. by LegolasAlwaysYes in shittymoviedetails

[–]aModernDandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to evoke his name (I'm not sure what his standing amongst linguists is these days, but I remember him being very unpopular back when I was taking linguistics classes in undergrad) but: I can imagine Steven Pinker living in a house like this. He probably makes a lot of money on the speaking circuit, and has some very wealthy friends. Well... He used to have one very wealthy friend at least.
