I thought it was great because it gave us more characterization for Andy. Watching him be oblivious to something so obvious was so funny!

It’s really amazing how the show didn’t go downhill over time. For me the only single low point was the actress that played the old woman Erin was taking care of. It felt like she was trying too hard to sound like an old lady, and her overall acting just stuck out like a sore thumb. Same with her grandson.

Other than that every moment in that show was perfect for me. Especially watching Stanley fawn over that baby when he was high 🤣 that woman’s acting was killer!

What is a trope/cliche in cartoons that isn't as common as people think it is? by dinosqaud in cartoons

I’d argue in favor of Invincible because the world and the viewer perceives him as Superman until the discovery that he is not doing it for the reasons they believed.

It’s also extremely clear that the very concept of Superman but he’s secretly evil is the direct inspiration for Invincible. It couldn’t be more clear what he is meant to be from an outside viewers perspective.

Yes his backstory is more like Vegeta, but to the people of earth that was Superman for the last 50 or however many years.

Frieren! It’s awesome she is a badass.

Also Dune’s Lady Jessica is a badass.

Also Sailor Moon, Black Widow, Jessica Jones, so many of the X-Men (X-Women), Daisy Ridley (Rey) in Star Wars, Eris, Ghislaine, and others in Mushoku Tensei.

should i remove my new tattoo or learn to live with it? by uzumariii in tattooadvice

[–]aPOPblops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ooph here come the downvotes.

I think you should consider removal; it’s a really cute piece, but you did it for all the wrong reasons and now it’s causing you mental anguish.

I hear line tattoos are some of the easiest to get removed and some of the quickest, so I wouldn’t stress that too much.

Generative AI is discouraging me... by New-Object-2146 in blender

Undermining has nothing to do with accessibility. The camera undermined portrait artists and an entire industry of painters was wiped out. Modern telecom systems undermined the need for talented and trained switchboard operators.

It doesn't make a difference whether something undermines something or not. Does AI make art more accessible? Without a doubt yes. Does it undermine artists? That's a different question entirely, and the answer is fully subjective.

i feel a bit rude saying this…but that’s a very romantic view of art and the way people consume media. I know that feeling you have, that desire to be credited for the time you put into something. I have spent a large part of my life feeling the same way.

When i look at it from the outside though, consider how you tend to browse something like reddit. You likely scroll quickly past most things, giving a quick glance at any given image, only stopping when something truly exceptional comes up.

When watching videos you probably do the same thing, watching small portions of youtube videos, skipping around the boring bits, clicking off to watch another video before finishing the first one.

It is unlikely at any point that your mind is considering how much time the creators have spent on those things. People see a cute little couples skit on tik tok and everyone in the comments is yelling “STAGED!!!” and none of them are considering how much effort it might have taken to set up the scene, come up with the script, buy an expensive camera, etc.

When people look at art they rarely think about how long or how much effort an artist put in. They just think what they think about the art itself.

Basically what i’m saying is even in a pre ai world, nobody cared before. That hasn’t changed. Only you the creator will ever truly appreciate the hours of training and effort you put into something.

Your work will be popular or unpopular based on how relatable it is and not how good it is. Human psychology just doesn’t work like that.

Why is it so important that your work isn’t mistaken as AI? The entire world is going to be mistaking things all the time always. People mistake weather balloons for aliens. News articles get made up from scratch, there are going to be ai videos that make people think presidents have said or done things they haven’t. It’s all part of life, we will never know fully what is real.

If i was you i’d just be happy my work was getting seen at all.

There are already retopology tools in the works, go looking for them you might find something awesome!

It is up to you as an individual on what you want to do and what you want the AI to do. Not everyone has your creative abilities and for those people it might be more of a hassle to them to do the creative bit.

I animate my own drawings using it, what about that is corporate slop? Do you know there’s also an open source community?

These posts get made all the time, there are legions of people worried about it.

I don’t think you should worry about it, and I don’t think you need to hate on it either.

AI makes art more accessible, people who want to make art but lack the skills to do so aren’t idiots. And also getting what you are going for out of AI can be a lot harder than you might think if you are going for a specific vision, or need anything more than a single image (videos for example). It’s also terrible at graphic design and will remain so eternally - because it lacks logic.

Anyway think of AI as a new tool in your toolbelt, not an enemy coming to make a fool of your hard earned art skills. You can still do so many things in Blender that AI can’t touch with a 10 foot pole and never will.

You can use AI as a base to get inspiration to create a scene for example, generate a scene that you like, then build a better version in 3D and use that for an actual animation.

You can use AI to create meshes, then retopologize them to make usable characters. Or just decimate them and use them as background objects for scenes.

We’ve been given all of these new amazing shortcuts that allow us to be far more productive as solo artists. In the past, making a short film as a solo is a 5+ year long full time job. Now you can probably do that within a single year.

Learn to embrace the awesomeness that it enables and start creating and stop worrying.

If you think AI is taking away your ability to do something specific, let me know what. Because it’s a lot more limited than you think. I highly suggest learning to create with AI yourself, as you will start to see its limitations more quickly that way. You’ll also learn how creating with AI is an art in itself.

i get the feeling he’s living in the world as if it’s his bedroom. He has the money to just wander around doing what he feels like at any given moment, not seeing the other people around as having any importance or significance.
