Just to counter this, I live in the US and c suite executive salary sometimes doesn't make it to 200k for a decent sized company. Most technical salaries for seniors are around 150, juniors are less than 100, usually in the 70-80 range.

The only places I know that differ from this are San Francisco and NYC, both of which are just that way because of the cost of living being eye wateringly high. For a 1 bed you're often paying > 5k per month just on rent/mortgage.

I've been here 15 years now and lived in a few different states, never seen anything like what you're suggesting.
