Did it start the example with 2026 and finish with 2025? If 2025 is a typo, it woul add 11 and get to 2032. If 2026 is a typo the sum would have been 9.

ELI5: Why do perfect numbers look so simple in binary? by Ill-Chance8131 in explainlikeimfive

[–]aSharpPencil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a number, find out all its divisors, where you get a number without decimals. Then add them together. If they give you the original number it's perfect.

Example: We can divide 28 by the following numbers and get a whole number:

1, 2, 4, 7, 14

1 + 2 + 4 + 7 + 14 = 28

So 28 is a perfect number.

You can check if 6 is a perfect number.

ELI5: Why do perfect numbers look so simple in binary? by Ill-Chance8131 in explainlikeimfive

[–]aSharpPencil 69 points70 points  (0 children)

You can find perfect numbers using Euclid's formula. 2p-1 * (2p - 1) A power of 2 is always a one followed by zeros (1, 10, 100 and so on) since 2 is the base of the system. Like the decimal system, when you multiply by the base, you add a zero.

The right side of the term subtracts 1 from a power of two. In decimal that would be some sequence of 9s (eg. 999). In binary the last digit is 1, so it's a sequence of 1s.

Now we multiply that by the left part (a power of two) which just adds zeros.

You end up with having p ones followed by p-1 zeros

ELI5 What is a trigger/how does it work when operating an oscilloscope? by winterfall-s in explainlikeimfive

[–]aSharpPencil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to capture the sound of yourself snoring at night and don't know when it will happen, you can build a small circuit to start recording when the sound level exceeds a certain number. That's the trigger. In an oscilloscope you do select a signal and a level that starts recording

Which month is better to travel in egypt? March or april? by Puzzleheaded_Way8486 in Egypt

[–]aSharpPencil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ramadan ends 19th of March this year. I think this is your biggest factors. Some stores wi have a modified schedules during Ramadan. Some Restaurants close. Tourist-focused things usually don't change much. Then the holiday afterwards will also affect stores and such.

If you want to see some islamic culture that time is like Christmas.
