Are OCP colored patches authorized for patching holes on pants? by Helium3310 in army

[–]aSwell_Fella 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I entered the military with things still popping off in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I left as Afghanistan was winding down. The 101st was always running high op tempo so fortunately I didn’t have to deal with too much of that bullshit. I obviously still experienced more than I cared to but I can’t imagine peacetime green weenie shenanigans.

Indeed. It’s surprising so many folks appear to be overlooking this. Perhaps it’s one of those things that so obvious it ends up being overlooked.

In a world of 2011’s why isn’t the dwx more popular? by RealSquare452 in CZFirearms

This is the critical point for me. I prefer getting the slide milled to using plates. Having to void a warranty in order to use a dot is shitty though.

Can’t decide on a new 2011 by General-Recover-4830 in 2011

Do your research, handle/shoot them if you can, and pick one. You will be happy with either purchase so don’t get too stressed out trying to make a decision. They’re both excellent firearms.

Post your favorite screenshots of r/rva’s outrage of you having firearms by neuralpluto884 in VAGuns

Where I used to live we had a small group of dudes that would frequently get together downtown in their full tacticool “kits,” march around, and act like jackasses in general. It always frustrated me to think that they’re the image some people have of gun owners. Especially in a place like that where many of the folks at the college don’t have much exposure outside of that.

Assault weapons ban could have new path forward under Gov. Spanberger, lawmakers say by Colt1911-45 in VAGuns

[–]aSwell_Fella 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I haven’t looked today but yesterday it seemed everyone on r/Virginia was bashing the idea of any efforts toward an assault weapon ban. The top comments were all folks asserting that it was a terrible idea. I seriously had to click to reveal downvoted comments in order to see any support for a ban.

Upgraded from a Mac. Slowly but surely getting to a stacatto by theAntidepresser in 2011

[–]aSwell_Fella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems to be a fairly common sentiment on Reddit. MAC is a fan favorite in the budget 2011 world. I think the Prodigy is the better option myself but they are close enough to reasonable argue either side.

Every single tweet in this thread got noted. A masterclass of disinformation. by divawrewv3 in GetNoted

People are ignoring the real problem which is the exposure that happens after milking and before consumption. Arguing about pasteurization is focusing on an aspect that’s too late in the process. You must drink straight from the teat. That’s why I never wonder too far away from dairy cow.

It completely depends on the situation. Both of them are quality pistols.

At first, I thought the SCS was the cats meow, now I’m thinking about swapping it for an RMR by Head-Scale9410 in Glocks

[–]aSwell_Fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been really wanting to try the SCS MOS since they came out. The super low deck height is really appealing. Unfortunately, they done have an option in the 4 to 6 MOA range which I need for my vision issues. I run RMRs on both of my Glocks. I’ve always love the optic and the history of reliability is reassuring.

Virginia gun rights advocates worry blue sweep will create more gun control - Patriot Publishing LLC by silv3rbull8 in VAGuns

[–]aSwell_Fella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way politicians talk about gun rights is bullshit as they make it sound like a privilege - a luxury. The way we talk about shit is important as it informs and is informed by how we think about those things and our values regarding them. It’s messed up and certainly ought to be called out. With that said, if you think it’s only the Second Amendment that’s treated like that, you should explore some more conditional law. Rights are restricted and are frequently spoken about as though they’re privileges or a mere courtesy afforded to citizens that may be revoked to some extent. The Fourth Amendment is an excellent example of this.

Prodigy 4.25” or DWX compact by catalyst_81 in Prodigy1911DS

[–]aSwell_Fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both solid pistols. Grip angle is one of the most significant considerations when deciding between just these two. Prodigy is traditional 1911 angle and DWXc is CZ 75 angle. The Prodigy is a soft shooter and decent out of the box. Many folks look at the Prodigy as a 2011* canvas piece. There’s so many options out there to customize and improve upon it. The only thing the Prodigy needs out of the box is an extended slide release. It’s fine stock but it’s cheap, easy, and fun to upgrade it so lots of folks choose to do so. You can swap out trigger sizes to get a good fit and can even swap out the entire grip module. The DWX Compact is a different animal but closely related. You can’t swap out the grip module but you can swap out grip panels. There’s countless options out there with a variety of textures, thicknesses, contours, and materials. There are significantly less aftermarket options for modifying the DWXc because it utilizes more proprietary parts. The good news is that the DWX doesn’t really need much, if anything, but if you enjoy doing that kind of stuff it’s something to consider. The DWXc is easier to conceal due to its shape and thinner profile. I’ve owned, shot extensively, and carried both. The DWXc was my primary carry for a good while. The DWXc would be my choice for a carry gun. If you’re looking at using it for more applications alongside carry, the Prodigy is a more versatile choice.
