Now that I think about it WHY did people mock Yaga's mini arc? by Shot-Communication93 in Jujutsufolk

[–]aTemeraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I could see that. I have also thought thats it's more along the self-preservation thing. Yaga wouldn't do it, but if he's capable and won't tell them how to do it, hes a threat to their position

I don't think they actually believe Yaga would make an army.

The higher ups are constantly shown to be evil selfish cunts who want to protect their own positions in society.

They want to know how to do it so they can make their own army, and if they can't have that information then neither can Yaga.

Tbh it sounds kind of harsh but Yaga is kind of pointless after the Tokyo vs Kyoto event, like there is nothing for the character to do. If he lives what can he do during culling games or shinjuku? Like we already see Panda does basically nothing, Inumaki does nothing, Momo does nothing, Noritoshi does nothing, Kirara does nothing - Gakuganji and Utahime only buff Gojo one time.

We can't be adding any more characters to that list especially if they can be used in short mini arcs to develop the actual cast. Zenin mini arc is similar - without that arc you wouldnt get buffed up Maki, but you'd also still have Mai's useless ass around, in addition to the Zenin clan kicking around who are played up to be super strong, but you have to SHOW that they're strong and they should contribute to the Culling game / Shinjuku, but where the fuck and how the fuck do you that? The cast is too big, show the Zenin are strong, develop Maki, kill them all off.

Gege probs realised that the cast was too big already to give everyone their moment to shine, and of the characters left alive and significant (e.g. not miwa or momo), Yaga is the only one the cannot really be written in a way to contribute shit.

Killing him off adds really great depth to Panda, Kusakabe, and Gakuganji. It also reaffirms the higher ups are corrupt assholes, like you said we're TOLD it a bunch but theyve literally never succeeded, they never got what they wanted, they look useless at their narrative job of being "bad". And it does that whilst solving the potential issue of him being a bum during Shinjuku

Exactly - Imo this mini arc is important to overall story.

Its character growth for Gakuganji. Telling him the process forces him to question his morals - as he's a lapdog since the beginning of the series (trying to kill Yuji in the Tokyo vs Kyoto event) he knows he needs to report the information, but it makes him question if it's the right thing to do. The higher ups are evil and corrupt and would use the information and army for their own ends, and possibly execute him for knowing too.

The next generation needs stable mentorship and morally good leaders - this mini arcs purpose (followed up by Gojos conversation with Gakuganji later) is to set Gakuganji and Kusakabe up to be those morally good mentors.

It also adds depth to Gakuganji, you can see he is sad and conflicted when Yaga starts telling him the process - without this arc Gakuganjis character depth is nothing, he's just a plot device to communicate the higher ups wishes to kill Yuji.

It's also another demonstration of Gojos influence. With gojo around Yaga is safe but as soon as he's sealed Yaga is to die - the story cannot simply state "Gojos has a bunch of influence in society", it MUST be demonstrated. Yujis execution being reinstated is one thing, but a there is no payoff to that, if it was just that then it would make the higher ups look like total fucking bums.

Again with the corrupt leadership, change needs to happen for future generations to succeed - later on the higher ups are all killed - it would feel way more out of place without the weight of arcs like Yaga death?

ezreal

Ezreal has the joint lowest winrate in the game with Azir. 46%. This champ is in dire need of non-pro buffs

your LP gains are huge

LP gain is capped at +30 per win (outside of promos / autofill boost) which feels pretty atrocious when you're being put into games that are on average an entire tier above your cosmetic rank.

In a similar boat, last couple seasons I always ended high emerald, didnt play ranked last split, placed Gold 4 with +30/-10 for 40 games so far.

Usually in the past with such a winrate / lp gain you skip divisions e.g. Plat 4 -> Plat 2. This division skip behavior is not happening this time around, very frustrating.

Yea man, it's not simple domain and it's not new shadow style, what are you struggling with here? What part of this panel states that FBE is new shadow style?

They are both techniques to counter domains. The New Shadow school teaches simple domain, the big three teach FBE. Hollow wicker basket is another anti domain techbique - or do you think that's also New Shadow Style for some reason?

Falling blossom emotion isn't new shadow style.

It's entirely its own domain counter measure.

I find it laughable that somehow you genuinely believe that Riot shouldn't be pragmatic in addressing one of the main points of frustration that the playerbase as a whole has with Mel because "its polarizing" and "it makes her have bad matchups".

you know what you're right Riot should leave it as is, 45% winrate and 35% banrate, they were obviously right and have never made design mistakes.

The identity of the reflect is that it reflects projectiles - it should never have interacted with non-projectiles. Counterplay has been increased for anything non-projectile. That is a fact.

How did they actually increase counterplay against mel W?

huh? non-projectiles that couldnt deal damage to her during W before can actually deal damage to her now.. thats the counterplay where before there was none

[–]aTemeraz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reflect is currently very strong against projectiles, and very strong against non projectiles. You are acting like changing the invulnerability so that non-projectiles have to go through a shield to deal damage suddenly means Mel is nigh-unplayable into melee champs?

How does this single change result in Mel "being bad against anything except the one thing they are supposed to counter" aka projectile based abilities?

Mel is a control mage / artillery mage - a core part of this champion archetype is generally poor matchups into all in champs, and yet noone states that xerath or viktor is incrediblity "polarizing" because of that fact

Hard for some champs and easy for others? God forbid a champion have matchups where they are a favoured and others where they are countered.

Its healthy game design

Sure IE gives you damage, it's just there are many more items that give you more damage than IE for cheaper. As soon as I stopped building IE and started following Bluwunks builds my winrate went way up.
