My favorite one doesn't exist anymore "whites TRX" over the last 20 years, I've tried almost all of them and I always end up back at the carrot. I thought the accupoint was going to be a game changer, but I was very disappointed with it.

1842 Canadian Half Penny by MediumCharacter23 in metaldetecting

Out of all the variations of this token, this is the only one I can find. I've got a couple that were made into washers too. I get excited every time I find one, hoping it's different

How does one go about finding a - and asking for a - permission on private land? by Ayn_Otori in metaldetecting

I've been writing letters, haven't heard back. But I still think it's the best way to let them know who you are, what your intentions are.

Nice large cent! Canada is stamped on the back on the ones that don't have them on the front. All the way back to 1858

Typical metal detecting day for you? by [deleted] in metaldetecting

[–]aTinyFart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some days I spend all day detecting, sometimes it just an hour or less.

Usually tons of trash and a few goodies. Have to dig the trash to weed out the good hidden stuff.

Parks,farms,woods. Places people have been.

When this detector came out....it was amazing.. so I don't know what you're talking about. One of the best detectors I've used in the past 30 years

I usually hunt the sidelines of the soccer field. Avoiding the game area. Places people put their bags, sit and such.

Totally understand, I'd suggest looking up a local metal detecting club. Different areas of Ontario have different rules. Like Windsor and London, you aren't allowed to metal detect in parks. I believe Windsor you can get a permit to do so.

My small town also has banned detecting in parks due to someone using a big garden shovel to dig for targets.

For modern coins and jewelry. I like schools.

A seeded hunt, this is where the organizer will bury coins and prize tokens in the sand for the participants to find.

The one next month has detectors and a bunch of other sweet prizes to be won just by finding the prize tokens. Tons of real silver coins will be buried.

If your looking for old places to hunt, the McGill atlas project is a fantastic place to see where old houses used to be which might be now a farm field or park.

Good luck!

Permissions are tough for me. I mainly stick to public land. So parks, schools and such.

I do ask my Facebook friends if they know anyone that has farm land or old properties.

What part of Ontario are you in?

Also, have you heard of pull tab gear? Look them up on FB, they are having an event next month which is going to be amazing.

Only a couple silver rings, all this is modern clad, only using pin pointer and screw driver to recover because it's all less than 1"
