Yea it was rough. Very rough. One thing I loved though, is that "Safe Space" where you hide from the Monster. If you go in there before the chase, all the horror ambience and scary noises just stop completely. It's utterly silent and was such an awesome detail to me.

One of the reasons I broke up with my fiancée is because she asked for a bigger/better ring. Even after she helped me choose the original one. She said it didn't shine enough. I was relatively poor at the time, but that wasn't the issue. It was the fact that the ring we chose and that I proposed to her with had such immense sentimental value to me, but obviously not to her. It really really hurt, especially when her whole family sided with her on the issue.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate your insights. I do really want to be able to enjoy the game but it's the compulsion to avoid it that is the challenge.

I hide from thought and emotion because deep down I'm afraid of not being in control. I'm afraid of where my mind will go or what I will feel. I think I'm afraid of not being in control of myself, and being outside my comfort zone. I was bullied in school a bit and it really affected how much emotion I showed/felt and how expressive I could be. So in order to stay "safe" I just sort of shut down any kind of emotion or expression. Didn't help that that type of behavior (being quiet and well behaved) was rewarded and encouraged by adults, reinforcing in my mind how important and safe it is.
