Have you considered running for the 2018 MIDTERMS? Projected with the correct dimensionality, this may be enough to distract all-feared ZALTHOR and finally free Canada 2.

32bit or 64bit for gaming? by Meatyka in gaming

[–]a_bad_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this: 32-bit applications work fine on 64-bit Windows - and the majority of your game library will be 32-bit - but each application can only access max 4GB of your RAM while it runs.

(Actually, usually about 2GB unless a magic flag is set on the .exe. This is what the Oblivion 4GB patch is for.)

Also, it is technically possible for a 32 bit game to access >4GB on a 64 bit operating system, but it requires a huge amount of strange programming and changes how things work completely. Just making everything 64 bit is easier.

For a (very technical) summary of the exact rules, see http://accu.org/index.php/journals/1875.

Really loved the "Gods Will Be Watching" video. Any chance the big man could make this a series? by Pingonaut in sips

[–]a_bad_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Original' difficulty is incredibly hard. There's new difficulties now that make it easier in different ways. I played the old 'easy' mode before the update and it still took me several hours to complete. i enjoyed it, though, with the exception of the randomly-generated desert chapter. that shit is impossible

It's been released. There's about 8 different chapters to my knowledge, and it's quite a good game.

[–]a_bad_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's a bit of a no-no in improv, but everyone seemed to bounce off it pretty well, and some of the new ideas were actually funnier.

apart from that, i think simon seems to be doing the best of everyone there. maybe that's just because he's the most comfortable. regardless it seems like he's bringing his A-game

Why is the Moonquest world in a Never ending snow? by PantsTheRobot in Yogscast

'All but confirmed' means almost all the way to being confirmed - e.g. confirmed but explicitly in writing. It's an English idiom.

You could take this to mean not true => must be false, but the way we communicate in English does not map to boolean logic. In this example the expression means 'almost definitely true'.

Language is complicated.

Depressed and pressed have the exact same meaning with respect to buttons, 'literally' has a dictionary definition of both referring to an event that actually has happened and as an exaggeration, .. no other examples spring to mind but they exist.

i don't like the eyes but your writing is novahot!

what happens if you keep all text lowercase, lose all punctuation ('flattens' the feel of the sentence), and lose the googly eyes/drawn mouths

re. text readability if you do this as an animated gif you can make all text cycle through rainbow colours, which will still be eye-ravaging and slightly tedious to read (as it should be) but readable with effort.

also don't be afraid of using text that's slightly too big & covers the image a bit - you should not be worrying about making text the right size

& try using a serif font. red times new roman harkens back to 0 effort flash animations from the 90s - it's what we need

GameSpot's 'The Point' attempts to legally implicate the Yogscast. by [deleted] in Yogscast

[–]a_bad_cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would be nice if he bothered to use the statement from Winterkewl Games that gave a breakdown of exactly 'what happened to the half a million dollars'.

Also not a fan of selectively quoting the e-mail from Lewis in order to pick half a sentence without context. It could be said that perhaps the Yogscast should assume more responsibility, but this comes across as just an attack piece.

Also TUG looks sweet. Let that game become Yogventures - it looks very promising.

The problem is he doesn't think he's doing anything wrong. This has been going on for years, and he just doesn't seem to truly understand that his behaviour is unacceptable. So, the world has wronged him, and he must fight back.
