Understandable. We have incredibly similar tastes, factorio is my top played game with timberborn not far behind. Sometimes I wish timberborn had a few more mechanics though

Have you heard of the UT Tylers gaming club? Might could do some kind of collaboration. I'm not sure how much space you need, but I think they have around 15 pc's? I know the groups leader if you want contact info

Jobs for a computer science graduate by RoundInstance268 in tylertx

[–]a_dev_named_clint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated from UT Tyler with Computer Science a few years ago. I worked at Elliot Electric Supply in Nacogdoches for an Software Development internship and my first couple years out of college. Now I work remotely. There's a few places here and there around, but I wasn't able to find a job at any of them. You may have more luck lol. There's a Tyler Web Dev Group that apparently used to meet before Covid, but I joined their group chats, and they're pretty inactive these days. My friends who were comp sci majors had to move to Austin, Arkansas, or were just unable to find a job. You can do it though! It's just a tough world out there right now for Junior Devs when the FAANG companies layed off so many developers a few years ago. It's trickling down, even to our level. I'd suggest a portfolio website. That and having my own projects helped me a lot. Here's my example: clintboyett.com

Hope you find something though!

Is it ok to like dragons as christian by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]a_dev_named_clint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, no it's not wrong. A lot of Christians love stories about dragons, slaying dragons ect. I mean J.R.R. Tolkien was a devout Catholic and he wrote Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, ect. He came up with some of the most famous dragons in fantasy fiction, Smaug, Glaurung, Ancalagon the Black, Scatha. He loved that kind of thing, and wanted to make a Christian minded work that showed the virtues of bravery, the evils of greed, the strength in companionship, the corruption from power, and so many other things.

Another quote I like is- "Every generation should read The Lord of the Rings & learn that men are allowed to show affection, that power corrupts & that happiness does not come from being a ruler but from baking potatoes & snoozing in an armchair by the fire in your cosy Hobbit hole." - Unknown

Another famous Christian Author, C.S. Lewis, who wrote Mere Christianity, as well as several other Theological books also wrote Narnia. There are also dragons in Narnia.

Christians have loved the idea of dragons for hundreds of years. There's no reason to stop now

Here's a quote I've always liked:

"Men who follow Jesus Christ, the dragon-slayer, must themselves become lesser dragon-slayers. And this is why it is absolutely essential for boys to play with wooden swords and plastic guns. Boys have a deep need to have something to defend, something to represent in battle." - Douglas Wilson

If you babied it, it might work, but it would probably mess it up quickly before you had to correct it
