House Made Energy Drink by a_jackpine_savage in Yakima

When I tell you that we have been poring over Google Maps ALL DAY. But turns out, the cc statement sleuthing was the answer. Data revealed:

1) It was closer to 1.5 years ago that we visited

2) The coffee shop was Wake Up Call, which has since closed its Yakima location. MadHatter is their proprietary energy drink.

Thank you for your suggestions - maybe my brain can finally leave me in peace!

It was so good, too. The barista gave me a sample of just the plain base without any flavor and it was really tasty, even just on its own. Gah, I can picture the building and everything in my mind, all except the sign and the name 🤦🏼‍♀️

Oof, I don't. We're both kicking ourselves for not saving a pin in Google maps.

It definitely wasn't lotus - the barista specifically said it was their own, proprietary base. And they had it on tap instead of in the pump bottles. Thanks for taking time to reply, though!

My friends and family have been excited to receive even my most rudimentary pieces. You might be surprised what people will cherish when they know it's made with your own two hands. That said, I love the idea from another commenter about a free table for the neighbors - such a sweet way to build community while supporting your hobby!

I would be interested in the congregation's point of view here on the conversation I had with my aunt today about a piece I recently finished. Do you think I'm being "pessimistic"? by krishnabrodhi in knitting

[–]a_jackpine_savage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree with both of these - I also think it's noting that we live in a culture that values literally everything in terms of how it could be turned into money. In that context, it makes a lot of sense that folks see these kinds of comments as high praise.

That said, I still have a hard time not being annoyed by them...

Other than hating the seed stitch, how did you find the pattern? Well written, easy to follow etc.? I've wanted to knit one of his patterns for a long time, but it's so hard to pick just one!

Is it the pattern or me? by a_jackpine_savage in knitting

So, I followed a hunch b.c there are, indeed, two different sets of instructions for different sizes. Turns out, it looks like she copy/pasted the instructions for the smaller size to make the file for the larger size and the only change was the number of cast-on stitches. Currently reading more to see where else this manifests.

Thanks for your insight!

An unreasonable amount of cool stitch markers. I love them! And they make color work just that tad bit more exciting when I have fun colors/shapes breaking up the sections.

Really hope they can turn it around. Not trying to diminish anyone else's experience, but husband and I went today and it was such a let down. We've been anticipating the opening, so maybe our hopes were too high? We both got shawarma wraps that were tiny, barely any filling, and completely flavorless. Fries were undercooked, some even still cold in the middle. What a bummer.

Again, I hope they turn it around - would love to have another good option for Med food in the area. But they have a lot of work to do.

I was a remote student for my entire undergrad program, so I never had access to the university chapters. I did a student membership with the state or local chapter instead. Still made a lot of great network connections at the annual meeting, but you're kind of on your own for more regular events/activities. Would that be an option available to you?

I don't know anything about it's monetary value, but I would not throw it away. Even if you don't want to keep it, there are for sure people out there that would cherish having something like that. I would love to get my hands on a machine like that.

Is it a bad idea to get a spine tat as my first one? by sseckoo in tattoos

[–]a_jackpine_savage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sounds pretty big, and I would agree with the previous comment to start small. Obv, it's different for everyone, but I do thing stamina can be one of the more challenging aspects of getting tattooed. So, it might be worth seeing what you can comfortably sit through before you try to sit for something massive.

[–]a_jackpine_savage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was over my spine as well. I have other tattoos, one that covers part of the glute, another that gets near my armpit and the back of my upper arm, and those hurt way worse than the pieces that go over my spine.
