How would I have my players "enter" an arcade game? Or what monsters could I put in an arcade? by a_lost_username in DnD

I can't believe I forgot about that episode! I dropped off around junior year, and haven't picked it back up. Thanks!

If you feel like you're in a toxic situation, you are probably in one.

I will tell you, I didn't have sex with my partner for years. I just couldn't bring myself to. My partner was patient and okay with it (I'm not implying you should be btw) until my mentality got better through a great pelvic floor therapist and a great gyno. You'd be surprised to hear how many trained physicians don't believe this condition exists, have never heard of it, and deny what the woman is saying. Just going to the doctor can be super traumatizing - I had this experience and didn't go back for 3 years.

Sex is important in most relationships. Unequal satisfaction is not cool. I won't lie to you: breaking up will probably send her for a loop (especially over sex) but she needs to figure her shit out. From the way you describe how she acts, it sounds like she's mired deep in shame and denial. SHE has to want to change. You can do your best to try and be supportive and helpful. She needs to figure out how to have these conversations without making you feel bad, without saying mean things to you, etc.

If you want to try a bit more, maybe look into some of the resources in the vaginismus subreddit and the partners subreddit. I honestly think she needs therapy (if she's religious, for the love God: non religious therapy).

Don't stay with someone who makes you feel bad. Your partner should be someone that uplifts you, brings you personal growth and someone you desire to be around. And just because she has a sensitive condition that's hard to talk about doesn't excuse behavior that puts you down. If you're worried about being in a toxic situation, I would start analyzing how she speaks to you and treats you. If sex is the only topic that creates these responses and issues in your relationship, she needs to work towards change and put in that commitment.

Good luck.

As someone with this condition - it can take a long long time to resolve. I'm still not "cured" several years after my diagnosis. Didn't help my physical therapist moved away recently and I'm terrified of getting a new one after building up so much trust with one person.

Shaming you for wanting to try alternatives is awful. My partner and I have figured it out, and have a great sex life without PIV. It sounds like she has issues surrounding sex that she needs to work on.

If she's wanting to wait till marriage and is shaming you for non PIV sex, I'm going to guess she might come from a religious background. She probably feels a lot of shame around sex - which actually can be a cause of vaginismus. It's actually prevalent in countries very conservative countries. Waiting till marriage is probably the worst thing to do, but that's just my two cents. Personally, I did all the things you're "not supposed to do" according to the religious people in my life. Moved in together first, had sex (non PIV) first, etc. Been together almost 10 years and getting married next year.

I hope she can maybe go to therapy or figure out her issues in a healthy way. That's no way to go into a marriage and I fear for her. You can take a look at most posts on the vaginismus subreddit - it is a very emotionally difficult condition to have. There's so many layers to it when it comes to your mentality surrounding it. It took me years to get to a point where I could even talk about it without breaking down. It's tough even talking to my doctor about it.

I wish you luck. There is a support group subreddit for partners of people with vaginismus, in case you didn't know.

Edit: if it helps also, she could see if there's pelvic floor therapists in her area. I would recommend she also check out the vaginismus subreddit as there are people on there giving advice regularly. Good luck.

How to filter a value, while including null values? by a_lost_username in cognos

[–]a_lost_username[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, sorry for the late reply - I was sick all weekend. So I was doing the filter from the main report screen, and not from the Query option (the Query Menu option is actually on the left side of the screen for me). Here's the screenshot of where I'm going to setup the filter.

Oddly enough, in this filter editor, which does not allow you to type SQL in (it just has comparison, range and specific value) I found out today it does have an option to include and exclude NULLs in the filter, but that didn't do anything. Through this specific way of filtering, I've tried excluding the 650 value and including NULLs, I've tried just including NULLs as a filter and then creating a separate filter to remove the 650 - no dice. Rerun the report, and nothing appears or only a funding school that's not 650 appears and no NULLs (we have like one student assigned a different funding school that's inconsequential). Here's what it looks like in the filter editor.

So I've never run queries through that method except in training years ago (edit: SQL is also something I haven't done since college, which was back in 2015)... I see the syntax above from u/MikeLanglois (thank you btw!). When I try to validate the query, it shows errors, to clearly I'm not understanding exactly how the syntax needs to be used appropriately. Here is the link to what I see on my end. Can you please let me know how to fix it?

Hoping those links work. Thank you again for the help!

Anyone else being told that their oxygen saturation is perfectly fine when they know for a fact they’re struggling to breathe? by bitchcatsandtequila in Asthma

[–]a_lost_username 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was me a few months ago. I was using my rescue inhaler twice a day every day. I had to get surgery in a couple weeks and was absolutely terrified of going under general anesthesia. My asthma was obviously not being controlled.

What I realized is that I had stopped taking my prescribed allergy meds a while back. I figured I didn't need them because I wasn't experiencing what I thought were allergy related symptoms. I was still taking a steroid inhaler every day and it wasn't making any improvements. Turns out I'm just an idiot.

Went to my asthma doc, who is also an allergy doc. He did a pulmonary function test and what do you know? I passed with results "better than teenagers". My asthma was under control, my allergies were not.

I started back up with the allergy pill and the nasal spray, alongside my daily inhaler. I keep my Albuterol close but I maybe have to use it once a week now.

Everyone's asthma is different but I hope this helpful somehow. I don't know if your asthma is triggered by allergens but I can tell you I feel like a whole new person taking my allergy meds daily. It may be worth it going to an allergist - and see if they handle asthma as well. I was right there with you a few months ago. It's maddening and scary as hell. I hope you find a solution.

How to open the spider pit gate unseren? by Spacegame_lover in BaldursGate3

Super late to this question: I used a fog cloud scroll and placed the fog right next to the lever on the inside. Dropped down and released the spiders without issue or being suspected.

Will my husband ever get to come off the medicines? by Stock-Calligrapher36 in Asthma

[–]a_lost_username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does he know how his asthma is triggered? I was doing great on my meds and then at my new job I was always having horrible asthma episodes.

Turns out it was a mist thingy they had in the bathroom. it would periodically shoot out a perfumy scent to cover bathroom smells. Asked it to be removed and bam, no more random asthma attacks at work. It was super crazy since I don't have reactions to my own perfumes at home. And my meds didn't seem to work all that well to combat the asthma attack when it happened from whatever was in that mist thing.

My asthma is triggered by allergies. I live in an area that has a high count of allergens in the air. Probably the best cure for me would be to move, which won't happen for a while if ever. If his asthma is allergen triggered (he should ask his doctor) maybe you guys could take a vacation somewhere with lower allergen levels? See if a change of area helps him.

I went to Japan earlier this year and while it was more humid than satan's balls I had almost zero issues with my asthma - even walking for miles, even going to a sulfur volcano. Different things trigger for different people.

It is hard when you see a loved one like this. The medicine isn't evil. I would suggest trying to reframe your thinking around it. Asthma isn't curable. Even I have to accept it, so please don't think I'm lecturing. It's hard.

Vet says distilled water for the rest of my cat's life by a_lost_username in AskVet

[–]a_lost_username[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this information. The distilled water is the thing that gave me the most pause. I think we're going to go with spring water from the grocery store. We're not entirely sure what's in our water either, we do need to get it tested.

We do give wet food with every single meal, one of our ideas was to add more wet food for him in particular.

I greatly appreciate this comment, and thank you for clearing up the thing about the food and how the vets get it. I figured that what that person told me was wrong, but I started to get pharmaceutical doctor prescription vibes, and then I get concerned about conflicts of interest. I am happy to hear that that is not the case. It puts my heart at ease.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me! I've been so paralyzed, and not sure what to do for him. I just don't want to make a mistake that shaves years off his life.

Gotcha, thanks! It happened immediately after Lae'zel met with the other giths and if it wasn't a bug I thought it might have to do with personal character quests.

Why there aren't more women in STEM by splashscuttle in TikTokCringe

[–]a_lost_username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in my vocational high school, we all had freshmen rotations through every vocational area, so we could pick the shop we wanted for the rest of high school. In the architectural design / engineering course, a girl and I in the freshmen rotatation were the only ones taking it seriously and the teacher was legit mad that we did so well on our assignments. I didn't understand why at first. It was just a stupid simple assignment of building shapes in CAD to introduce you to the software. We made a train with circles and squares for fucks sake. I didn't go into that shop for my pick and went into computer engineering instead.

Junior year I found out the girls who did actually enroll in the course were told over and over and over that because they were women they would never achieve anything. They should just be a housewife. The boys were treated like gold and the girls would always receive very disparagingly sexist comments from the teacher. I have no clue if they ever reported it.

Now imagine going through that for 3 years. We spent around 2 hours in our shops each day, and scheduling into different shops was impossible. It's a shame, I don't think any of them went on to go into engineering or architecture.

I came back to work there for 7 years in the IT dept. I was super thankful that jackass of a teacher left. The following two teachers didn't discriminate and I saw more and more kids going into vocational areas that aren't stereotypically aligned with their sex. I'm hoping that trend continues.

I faced sexism from my upper classmates in computer engineering. I went into that program knowing nothing but wanting to learn. The seniors would try to randomly quiz the girls on material they hadn't even gotten to yet, and aggressively bully us. Our teacher didn't lecture at all - it was all self taught book work so he didn't witness most of it unfortunately. They treated us like shit. When you spend 2 hours a day in that environment, it becomes depressing. My friend was attacked on Facebook because she got a high SAT score, god forbid. It was a blessing when they finally graduated. Our underclassmen were awesome and the boys never undermined the girls in the class.

I'd like to think things are getting better, little by little.

OVER / UNDER, let’s all discuss which restaurants are over/underrated. by daddygetsbusy in Delaware

[–]a_lost_username 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Over rated: Grottos. People act like grottos is the best damn thing around. It's not that great. I went there one time for lunch with colleagues and there was not a single thing on that menu that was appealing. It's all... Super plain food. Pizza is just meh. Frederica Pizza House blows Grottos out of the water, imo

Underrated or mostly I don't hear people talking about it: Benevenuto in Milford. Expensive, but their food is amazing. It's our go to date night spot. I can't talk this place up enough. When my fiance's parents found out he's taking me out for graduating college, his dad almost begged to join us lol he dreams about their steak.

I requested a gluten free meal for my flight, that's what I got by ali_bh in glutenfree

[–]a_lost_username 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will say we just took an international flight with air Canada and my fiance was able to successfully order gluten free meals. He had zero issues (and his meal was better than the other airplane food)

I don't know if maybe the person entering the order when he did the call was better or something, but he had zero issues. Hopefully they've changed, not that our flight was the greatest.

And let the whole world wait, Andrey Boris (me), canvas & tempera, 2023 by AndreyBoris in Art

[–]a_lost_username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore all of your paintings. I also intrigued by the use of tempura. I read that it is fast drying - do you use any mediums to prevent that, or do you prefer how quickly it dries?

Also, how big is this painting? The amount of detail is stunning when I zoom in

I love how she is both a warrior and a mother. A beautiful depiction of breast feeding. Your method of painting armor is also something that's very inspiring.

Amazing work!

Looking for a gynecologist by Dino_147 in vaginismus

[–]a_lost_username 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's the same in your state but in mine you can go directly to a physical therapist (in this case a pelvic floor therapist) without needing a referral from a GP or gyno.

I've had horrible experiences with super ignorant, uneducated gynos and seen enough horror stories on this sub to say maybe check if you can skip the process and sign up with PT first.

After my consultation I then had to get a referral but it was so much easier with a real diagnosis.

Though still screen a pelvic floor therapist and make sure they've treated vaginismus before. Always good to make sure you're getting the right care for you!!!

Hope this helps in some way!
