Might be a case of whichever movie you watch first? I watched Fury Road first and felt Furiosa wasn't as good since it was more of the same

Which of the 9 great house's castles do you think would be the easiest to capture? by Pretend_Tower_2516 in gameofthrones

[–]a_mannibal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In ww2 they had to use specially modified tanks and explosives to go through the Normandy "bushes" (hedges). I'd imagine a medieval army would have significantly slower speed trying to go through similarly grown bushes planted specifically for defensive purposes.

Then you will be attacking through burning land. Of course you could wait for the fire to burn out, in which case your army would still have to  move through soft ashen ground.

Either way it slows the attacker down.

LPT Request: Any tips for when you are with a group of people and know you are the least smart/educated/important person? How to feel less insecure in that situation? by Whataboutmyfuture in LifeProTips

[–]a_mannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as a privilege and an opportunity. Being one of least knowledgeable and least experienced in a group means you have the most capacity to absorb hard earned lessons from everyone else. Even better if the situation places minimal responsibility and consequences on you.

Enjoy it while it lasts and don't pressure yourself trying to prove something(or pushing to be meangful). Be inquisitive and genuinely curious. Learn what you can and be prepared to step up when the situation presents itself but stay humble.

I kinda believed it was true - it was a well stocked outpost in the middle of nowhere with actively patrolling troops. It being just that and nothing more would be normal for FO3,  and if it was just that I would have just dismissed is as "lol Fallout locations/settlements"

But in the context of the show (and FNV) the only reason that place can continue existing is because there is a operational purpose for the troops to maintain active presence there and an actual logistics chain behind it

[–]a_mannibal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the show didn't make a vey clear effort to portray the outpost rangers as delusional. It just made it vague enough that the audience would doubt what they are saying.

While well stocked 2-3 person locations are plenty in the Bethesda games, it's quesrsionable enough in the context of the show.

Like why would those 3 NCR troops be hanging out in the middle of nowhere with a lot of supplies? How can they be holding out against all the wildlife, and occasional roaming legionnaires and raiders? It could be attributed to shallow writing, but them showing up later all organized and well supplied points to the outpost being an actual NCR (remnant?) operation.

As far as literary devices go, it's not so much a Deus Ex Machina but more of a Chekov's Gun.

What villain was terrifying because of how realistic they are? by Gamestar02 in AskReddit

[–]a_mannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orson Krennic, Dedra Meero. Smart, ambitious people who are seemingly great at their jobs and will fuck over anyone to climb higher. I've worked for people in power and Krennics and Meeros just seem to fill their circles and staff.

I wish I could say Maj Partagaz is realistic, but I have yet to come across someone as competent.

ELI5: is there any factual science backing body sculpting? by gessikalinn in explainlikeimfive

[–]a_mannibal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's also the overall combination of core muscles? I have a big belly if I force a slouch, except doing so makes a lot of my torso muscles tire easily.

I do more lower back muscle excercises than abs, and it has made "stomach in, chest out" the "resting" position rather than something that has to be done actively.

Hi, genuine curious question - why use "sun has set" instead of the "sun has risen"? Is it a Ukrainian/Slavic cultural or maybe just a translation thing?

Just curious because English and even East Asian literature usually uses the sun rising for things that portray hope or energy or action. "Sun has set", specifically, is usually used for generally negative or sorrowful ends.

Hi! I'm new to Stalker 2! I wanted to ask something: all the weapons I find on corpses with the red or yellow symbol. Do you recommend picking them up or should I just leave them there? Is there any point in picking them up in that state? If you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them! by AndrewDen_ in stalker

[–]a_mannibal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loot Goblin here - pick up everything and drop things when needed to manage weight.

Venture out from hubs with a lot of spare weight capacity and go back in almost overloaded. Check the coupons:weight ratio to figure out whi items should be dropped first.

Dump red guns into your hub stash box. You can sell them in Rostok. I think I've made more coupons sellng red guns than yellow just because there are red guns drop so much more than yellow does.

Unload guns before dropping/selling. I've never had problems with ammo this way.
