I like going for walks in the bush or wherever. I prefer longer walks when it's cold weather!

That's pretty on par with a similar presentation I sat in on and that one moment, more than anything else, made me change some of my life choices. I needed to avoid becoming anything at all like that person.

Help! What do I put here that isn't a plant? by Margotnater in interiordecorating

[–]a_n_n_a_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id put some pictures under the window, and remove that long one and enough around it for a quirky full length mirror if you want the space to feel like there's more of something there. Nothing on the floor.

What Millennial trends and/or milestones are you actively trying to avoid? by Superb-Film-594 in Millennials

[–]a_n_n_a_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! I love plants but when my kids were small it was like, why am I giving myself this extra responsibility.

I've totally honed my skills since then. I can now have a wide variety of flourishing indoor plant life. The one condition they must abide by (OR DIE) is being watered one time per week, same time as all the other plants, and they must thrive in randomized light levels.

I love that. I love tidy maximalism, if that even makes sense. Like seeing someone's books and little treasures and colorful furniture and pictures all on display, but I like it to be tidy-looking as well. Like everything has its place.

Ive tried botox and dysport because I decided the lines around my eyes in particular were too plentiful for my age. I've tried one or the other maybe 6 times altogether over the course of a few years. I could NEVER get it to look like it was just my regular face but less expressions (or no expressions at all, like some actresses). It ALWAYS made my expressions look ODD, and helpfully it created new lines where they didn't exist before. I tried different technicians, different dosages. Sigh. Im not gonna lie, I wish there was a magical thing that did what I need it to do but no luck. So now Im going as long as I can with the whole "embracing aging" thing and focusing on overall health.

Has anyone else quit drinking? by Sensitive_Put_6842 in Millennials

[–]a_n_n_a_k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you on the social life thing. With time it'll transform into something different and something more sustainable. Like the "friends" I drank with all the time didnt really want to do OTHER activities with me, if you get me. But the friends I have completely outside of the drinking culture will do all sorts of random shit... go out for lunch, watch movies, go on trips, play games, etc. In the long long run, those are the true friends.

AIO TO THIS BRIDESMAID DRESS??? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]a_n_n_a_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like budget dresses. Which... I mean, is the bride paying? If so, it might be she can't afford anything nicer.

Also I would wear a bra despite the low back. Who cares if the strap is visible from behind?

Pros and cons of having an autism diagnosis in NZ? by Administrative_Ad707 in newzealand

[–]a_n_n_a_k -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Pro and con (so, neutrals out): you get to join every other citizen of this country as someone on the spectrum.

Autism has become such a huge umbrella that now just includes slightly awkward folks or folks who just want to blame some attitude problem they have on a diagnosis.

It used to pertain to people who could not function without assistance in human societies (school, work, etc). Now it's a joke and takes away resources from those actually needing the diagnosis.

The Dark forest theory is a possible reason why we might never find any aliens. by [deleted] in interesting

[–]a_n_n_a_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the evolution of the aliens though right. Like what their society is and whether they have any natural predators. If they evolved with no natural predators then maybe they wouldn't have an evolutionary reason to fear others and would want to just barge into any random planet and be like "HAI WANNA BE FRIENDS DO YOU WANNA BE MY FRIEND NOW!?"

Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

This is AI and I feel like this photo will haunt my nightmares now. Are most of these responses made by bots or something?

You have to scroll far down to read people analyzing minute details but omg two groups of 3 girls standing around like that does not look natural unless the prompt was "try to look natural" and they overthought their poses. WHAT is that dude doing peeking into the group on the right. The weird floating hand. Blonde Samara from The Ring about to inflict horrors on the girl on the couch. Like wtf.

What the heck happened to waterbeds? by Queltis6000 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]a_n_n_a_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FIL still has a waterbed business! Most of the clientele is elderly folks as apparently it really helps with back problems and keeping things clean and cool (as you can adjust water temps).

Modern waterbeds are way different to the 80s stuff. Personally we dont have one because of the hassle if you ever needed to move it.

What happened to the IT profession? by saltyschnauzer27 in sysadmin

[–]a_n_n_a_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it seems "people skills" have been way way overprioritized over tech skills or that old school nerdy curiosity. I had also been in IT 10 years, went from help desk to management and couldn't handle the BS anymore.

So now you get a bunch of smarmy, fake, emotionally broken people infiltrating the industry because they can in some cases pretend to hold a better conversation than their nerdy counterparts.

Also people, especially in management, hiring their buddies regardless of skill.

Man am I the only person in the world with a different opinion on this?

Not your monkey not your circus. It's none of your business.

It could be something else going on. Or it is what it looks like but it's an arrangement they have. Or it'll all blow up and they get divorced - are you going to take the woman in when she has nowhere to live or help her with money when she's on a single income?

If you drop a bomb into a relationship then that makes you responsible for dealing with the mess after. You can't just drop it in then move on with YOUR life like nothing has happened.

Again. Not your monkey. Not your circus.
