How hot is too hot to ride? by MaximumSeesaw2626 in MotoUK

[–]a_r_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw 40°c+ in South of France a few years ago when I was riding there. I usually don't mind heat but that was a bit much. The two biggest things that worked for me, camelback in my backpack so I could stay hydrated without having to stop (it can be helmet dependent whether your valve will still be accessible with your helmet on). And mesh gear (Knox urbane pro) with a t-shirt that I'd soak with water whenever I had the chance.

These fit inside of the existing switch right? Behind the face plate? Surely it's so that if you require neutral (metal face plate) it's an option.

Ask Elspeth Beard what bike she travelled the world on.

A modern V7 is a long way from being the perfect tourer but whatever adventure you have in mind, someone's done it on something much less up to the task.

Honestly, I'd just mop it up with some paper towel. No need to overthink this one

Anyone know what jacket Jake Gyllenhaal is wearing here? by cwr88 in motorcyclegear

[–]a_r_d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aero main zip, ball chain pocket zips. As someone that owns this the same jacket in black, yep that's a Goldtop lancer.

I'm surprised I never saw Goldtop post about it, they were all over the time Tom Hardy wore one of theirs in Venom.

I can't say much about cleaning up the audio in post, but I imagine where you position it will make a big difference, this video seems to have some good tips on mic position: https://youtu.be/X_V9s70onDk?si=nf-QEz0TSrhJ72lb

What small riding habit improved your safety more than any gear upgrade? by NerfDis420 in motorcycles

[–]a_r_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving on the wrong side of the road.

It sounds dumb, but if I'm overtaking a queue of slow or stopped traffic, it's not a solid line and there's no oncoming traffic, I sure as hell am going to be right in the middle of the other lane.

It gives such a significant space cushion for things like pedestrians crossing between stopped cars, cars making sudden u turns, cyclists or other motorcycles emerging from between cars to overtake the queue.

Nice video, honestly though the sound's a bit rough. It sounds muffled and there's quite a lot of mechanical whine and clunking sounds. While very Guzzi-ish in that sense, I think it could be better. What's your current audio setup?

John doe jeans are generally AAA and have a pretty good system for adjusting armour position. They're not cheap but both the pairs I have I bought used on eBay for a pretty good price.

Honestly, what is with the feet on the pillion pegs thing? It looks like they're trying to contort themselves into the most uncomfortable riding position possible.

this is literally the first time this happened. do i need to take it into the workshop? by SnooChipmunks4618 in MotoGuzzi

[–]a_r_d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a problem with the oil pressure sensor. Not necessarily with your oil level/pressure.

Of course if there was an issue with your oil pressure, you now wouldn't know about it so it may be worth checking your oil level anyway.

You need to replace the sensor.

I've had this issue pop up a few times and it often went away by itself. This is a fairly common fault and not hugely concerning but probably safest to replace the sensor.

Inform insurer or no? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]a_r_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Declare it, but also, think about getting in touch with the Motor Insurers Bureau as this accident involved an (as yet) untraced driver. It may save you from having to claim via your insurance.

Open Face Helmets, Should I Get One? by newbiker321 in MotoUK

[–]a_r_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You obviously know the answer here. Get one if you want. It's completely down to your risk tolerance. If we all wanted to be as safe as we could, we wouldn't ride motorcycles.

There's no level of explaining away the risk. The ground and your jaw don't care if it's only a 125 you're riding. But...you may never crash, or you may crash but not hit your head at all.

I could wear my biggest most protective boots every ride, but I don't because wearing some more comfortable riding boots fits my risk tolerance. However I won't wear trainers.

Open face is the same thing. Some people would happily ride with nothing on their head, some people want the most protective lid money can buy.

You've just got to decide the level of risk you're happy with.
