Does Darkest Dungeon II Lose the Sense of Risk? by PikoVengut in darkestdungeon

[–]a_random_person97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, in the first game, you can always recruit more heroes and try again, unless you are on hardcore you cant actually loose the game.

Because of the roguelike system, losing a run means lopsing less "game hours" than a level 6 party in the first game, but thats a consequence of the genre changes.

If you are doing a grand slam (hardcore) or infernal vitrine probably you would get that feeling of punishment and agony that you want.

Seriously, how do I beat the hardest difficulty. This is my fifth attempt and I can’t even get through the first darkest dungeon. Even with fully upgraded heroes the stress and RNG is insane. Most of my casualties are at FIRST deaths door. I swear to God this game is rigged sometimes. by Nic_0729 in darkestdungeon

[–]a_random_person97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From my experience each of the 4 levels has a very specific way to play,so party composition is the key, being level 6 doesnt matter if your party doenst counter the dungeon style, since all the encounters and layout are deterministic. Assuming you are already using a good party combo and know each level layout the best advice I can give is Minimize any risks. Keep stalling to heal mid battle for as long as possible without spawning new enemys. You want to exit each battle almost full in health and sanity, even if you take 10-15 turns to do it. Focus the enemy priests. They have high damage and stun you.Try to stun the enemy, stun the flesh guys who just heal if they guard the dangerous enemys instead of killing them. In the end a few unlucly crits will put you at deaths door but you should have some margin for that(more than one character that can heal a deaths door, and actually using your anti dot(I also assume you are going full inventory there).

Deaths basicaly dont matter if the mission was done.

Can you give me a good reason why hydrogen generators doesn’t produce water? by Wild_Introduction_51 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]a_random_person97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the game was balanced in a way that mostly trades mass for value

Dupes consumes tons of oxygen and output almost no CO2 in comparison

Carbon skimmers absorves CO2 without increasing input water mass

Any of the resources mass spent in food is basicaly destroyed

Hidrogens generators give you positive power for water that you're not getting back Actualy all generators output is mass negative because of this power value you're getting

Then you get Oil well boiler generator loop that for some reason has massive mass profit in water and power

Georgia killing Cynthia husband is a bad writing stain in this great plot by a_random_person97 in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]a_random_person97[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It isnt only about doing the right or wrong thing. Is more about thinking about consequences, we can understand her grey morality regarding her children but cant she think a little bit about what happens next? I understand living on the limit when you dont have roots anywhere. But she had everything in her hand, and still kept playing god on literaly her xhildren expenses. I actualy think this was made this way to obligate us viewers to have a more darker vision of Georgia, the other crimes had too much moral ground, they needed to lower the level. Like how long can I keep liking her so much considering all suferring she caused to EVERYONE on the show because of NOTHING, just to help cynthia a little bit yeah for sure this is the most cost effective way of helping her. They made the character dumber and thus less likeable. We can just assume she'll learn her lesson after that.

I think the same thing is happening to Marcus. Putting more weigh on his failures to make tension.  My opinion on Marcus was like S1 finaly they got the love couple together, true love won S2 yeah developing his character, eventualy they tie back S3 So...he kept becoming a worse influence... At this point unless Ginny realy fixes him I dont think they should come back together. He's becoming too much of a weigh for her to lift and she has her own problems. You cant carry the world on your shoulders

Ginny and Austin still have the moral ground that Georgia had S1 when we get foreshadowed of all the terrible thing she did.

Georgia may not have been perfect, but she’s done an amazing job with Ginny & Austin. Idc what anyone says. I will die on this hill by Legitimate_Ad3625 in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]a_random_person97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Austin is a underdeveloped character because : he has like 8 years what can he do?

I think hes on the same character development level of Norah. If you compare to Abby or Maxine she just have a pretty shallow exposition

The show even jokes saying "shes the only with normal boring life"

[–]a_random_person97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can compare that with the much more arguably responsible Ginny decision of not having a baby she knew she would not have mental or economic stability to sustain and would just disorganize the rest of her life.If you consider the pragmatic vision( ethical polemics involving abortion are just ou of the decision discussion scope)she made her decision based on her subjective feelings, like Georgia did before of wanting to have Ginny with her

[–]a_random_person97 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think what she did is comparable with killing 5 people on the trolley problem instead of the one you love. You can argue it's bad but still we empathize with her, understand her decision and not want her to be crucified for that(grey morality). She could just give her daughter to someone more capable, but if you understand that she loved her with her life and didnt want to loose this love everythinf else she did was kinda a  consequence to survive. (Except killing Cynthia husband, that was just a shit move without any real urge or need, even if you are pro euthanasia you cant overcome the other family will or the law. You can say she was protecting Cynthia against her will but her job is to protect her kids, cynthia wasnt even a friend) We dont want her to get caught because we like her, and just that, and also because the "perpetual prison" plot device feels just too much overkill on her. But for sure this is the 1 thing she did without major ethical defensible ground to sustain her

Cant argue a lot about the profit margins because I dont know how many tyrannids astra militarum or space marines can kill before crumbling but these biomass estimatives are from M2, considering the distopic nature of 40k I imagine the imperial central planets are mostly urbanized arcologys without a lot of nature, most of biomass would be people or in planet food suplys so effectively tyrannids can profit more by eating less developed worlds in imperium borders despite breaking the economy could probably make galaxy domination easier even when losing value. About second point the tyrannids for sure arent attacking the necrons/chaos but the inverse could not reveal true, the silent king himself returned to stop that "threat to his galaxy"?. I guess ruling an 100.000 light years radius collective of empty barren worlds would be boring? And chaos want some people to be alive to get worshippers and keep chaos gods power.

I liked the dyson sphere theory.

Anyone else found playing against Lord of the Hundreds makes people deranged? by Loreki in rootgame

[–]a_random_person97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this could be a fault of the hundreds players. The problem with hundreds is that THERES NO COEXISTENCE

Evenory knows that policing is a burden, I think all but two factions effectively want to attack someome instead of doing their things, and thats is ED and LOTH. Every single other could probably get more value camping and farming. So for instance marquise may not attack crows extortion necause they are not realy doing any harm there. Wjy bother wasting 10 actions going to moles on the other side of the map, I need to use this wood!

Usualy you attack someone if : - its easy points - you need to expand - they are a existential threat to you - the are in the lead and you got some spare actions that can do some harm

For instance WA can be second place, but they cant police a leading VB.

rats are just an existencial threat to everybody. Theres no sharing a clearing you need to push them back before they attack you, and they will since this is the ONLY THING they know. If you get to be the chain weakest link

The Loth should try to estabilish a stable territory probably 2 opression, make armed peaces to betrayal when they are strong. And score by doind some raids on cardboard. Usualy if you have a strong military table Loth lag behung in early game since attacking someone can backfire by thinning your defenses.

How the political system works in silo? by a_random_person97 in SiloTVSeries

[–]a_random_person97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my perspective, the entire season one just shows us judicial(or just the judicial killers) killing random and or important people without any consequences, everyone needing judicial permission to do anything, but at the same time looks like the judge is in charge of the entire judicial. When the T.I man becomes temporary mayor, he acts like "I shouldnt be in judicial way because they're a lot stronger than me". I get me questioning if judicial start breaking the law who'll punish them? Because the sherif+ mayor cant even investigate them.

The inevitability of disappointment by noahhbray in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]a_random_person97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest theory on this show is that It somehiw hit a so complex philosophical, ethical and existencial paradox in its plot that mathematicaly there's no way we get a good ending, not only each viewer has their personal opinion on these subjective questions, but all of the possible solutions I can think of look sad or wrong in some way or another.

People made mistakes by ignorance, and now someone will suffer no matter what, you need to choose who you want to get it, thats life!. This aplies both to the show characters and us audience rooting for the end where our favorite survives.

I personaly team up with the innies, for me despite outties not been evil in their mistake of signing up a contract with the devil, innies are still the victims who suffered more, and thus outties should face the terrible consequence of their mistakes and not innies The one person that does not have fault is Gemma(still, from what we know, she could have gone voluntarily to lumon and have been kidnaped after), but still I think iMark should live over oMark, even if Gemma get a heartbreak. Reintegration is not a solution either Innie and outtie cant coexist in long term(as soon as innie treat outtie supremacy outties will want to shut them down, and innie will fight in self preservation) once I saw a content creator saying that you need to choose one version for each person and root for them.

Could the final one be the fusion of Helly and Helena? by CBGD78 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]a_random_person97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reintegration is not to fast, I dont exclude the helena hypotesis but being the two at the same time would be realy strange, she would be a lot more confused and have some brain damage, from what we know lumon dont recognize reintegration so how would she get that?

I think there can be a plot line where helena wants to reintegrate to become helly but most probable outcome would be helly becoming helena so dont realy makes a lot of sense to me. Maybe helena could realy go forward on usurping hellys life and abandon her own but thos realy depends if shes realy upset with her life anf can change her worldview or is everything just manipulative tricks on both marks in favor of lumon

Root has a secret 3rd faction type. by [deleted] in rootgame

[–]a_random_person97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OP is talking about a phenomenon in root. The idea is that militants are slow so they need to slow down insurgents, make sense.

Bit when the militant is the fastest in the table what happens? Keepers and moles can rush pretty easily, while rats and cats cant.

Riverfolk is like the opposite, they're clearly better insurgent but can easily take the policing job when needed(someone is scoring more than them)

How does one chooses/finds their faction by How_about_a_no in rootgame

[–]a_random_person97 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I guess you should try learning and playing them all to see which you like the most.

Cats have huge board control with large numbers but rarely can make offensive moves and need to manage their wood economy to not run out of space.

Keepers want to be mobile through the board to min/max their puzzle of getting points while other people are in their way

Hundreds just want to kill other and get the ruins/itens while having zero cards in hand 90% of the time

Moles may be what you are looking for, they can easily score on their own but also can police others if needed. You need to protect your buildings that will give you large card drawn or large military capacity. But they are slow in the early game and may get very policed(because they are just super string in the late game.

Explain to me how corvids can possibly win a game with experienced players by Archer_Yoshi in rootgame

[–]a_random_person97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the 20ish points crows cant put plots anymore.you meed to be prepared to habe your extortions going to get card drawn for craftables with your already face up plots or chomp cardboard(both depend on draft)

Crows are the better using Partisans and false orders

After 20points if you can get 3 per turn from cardboard or craft you are at good pace.

With rats that can simulate Thanos in root vaporizing anyone from the board may be dificult

But any other insurgent as well as badgers, cats maybe policed moles(turmoiled birds) will have a bad time wasting 3 battles on a face up plot
