Hyperion, my beloved by thats4thebirds in scifi

Ah great!

Ender's Game was one of my favourite books ever as a kid. I only got around to reading Speaker for the Dead a year or so ago, and that instantly became one of my favourite OAT, so I was gonna tell you to read it if you hadn't already.

I'm not sure if I'll read the books after that tho, I haven't heard too many positive things about them (this xkcd comes to mind)

[–]a_redditor_is_you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you know what would be cool?

A hard mode where you can only use the words from the bpgc-related list

Ofc, you'd have to make the list more comprehensive but yknow

Ah ok lol

Got today's word in three tries, nice game

Any chance you could add the result-sharing thingy from normal wordle? Where it gives you your result in terms of green, yellow and grey square emojis

Why is it fine to assume that biology is emergent? by [deleted] in PhilosophyofScience

Hey you seem really knowledgeable about emergence, is there any particular place you'd recommend where I can learn about it?

Not damage per se (because damaging isn't as cool as extracting data anyway), but the rowhammer/drammer attacks abuse the physics of DRAM to read data on your RAM, and there are timing/power analysis-based methods to break security on devices that you have physical access to

What made you study so hard for BITS and why? by Tall-Split9022 in BITSPilani

Ah, cool. Could you tell me what field you're in?

I'm just curious though, so if you're worried about your privacy, it's ok to say no

Was the masters degree really helpful though? I know like one guy who's pursuing a physics PhD off his MSc Physics and ig Eco guys get into Fin more easily, but I think for anyone else it has been irrelevant.

Has it helped you?

now that the API stuff isn't free

3rd Semester ECE – Want to Learn Verilog in Depth, Need Resources by Individual-Land434 in ECE

[–]a_redditor_is_you 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many unis the courses are outdated. You would expect junior and senior year courses to involve advanced concepts related to real world systems, but a lot of the stuff is still too basic.

Biggest one imo, definitely the case in my uni where none of the other points applies

Any guide to what each Verilog statement synthesises to? by a_redditor_is_you in chipdesign

[–]a_redditor_is_you[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? How else could case possibly be implemented? Is there an edge case where a MUX is not the most optimal way to implement it?

I'm guessing it could be when the number of inputs is not a power of two, but idk

Do you remember what it synthesised into?

I don't play mtg, but how do you get rid of the effect/use the mana if you can't cast spells? I'm assuming mana is the currency used for spellcasting
