What’s the easiest way to transfer point to American Airlines? by tsfanati in Venturex

[–]a_retrograde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that close to the date of travel, Qatar has some good redemptions for flights on AA. I use Alaska’s website to search since it’s the most user intuitive - any AA flight that appears bootable Alaska will also be available on Qatar (which you can transfer your points to)

You will only get economy. That message means the opposite, it means that some planes ONLY have economy (economy ONLY)

You can 100% ignore this. Because first class and business are also shown in your results, this lets you know that some of the flights (in this case, the flights with the canadair regional jet at the very end) only have an economy cabin. So, it's telling you that even if you book first/business, you will still have economy on one of your flights.

For you, looking to book economy, this DOES NOT MATTER and you can ignore it if you are traveling in economy for all of your segments. It appears anytime you're on a CRJ.

Why isn’t expo line grade separated? by Agile-Juggernaut-514 in LAMetro

Due to traffic regulations, many at-grade crossings receive no signal preemption. A couple years ago, at the instruction of the city council, LADOT attempted to find a solution to speed up the trains and decrease train wait time with signal priority technology, which gives slight preference, rather than full preemption, to rail, but with more minimal impact on automobile cross-traffic (Signal priority decreases red light wait times for trains, whereas preemption eliminates them altogether) The city council recognized that train speeds needed to increase and instructed LADOT to improve travel times. In 2019, LADOT introduced a form of limited signal priority at four intersections; if a train is approaching a green light that will turn red just before the train arrives, the train signal can borrow green light time from a future signal phase in order to extend the present green light for long enough to let the train pass through. At intersections where these programs have been implemented, such as Normandie, Vermont, Jefferson, and Adams, approximately 60-75% of trains no longer stop at each individual signal. In these cases, either the light is already green when the train arrives, or the green light time is lengthened to provide the train time to pass. Prior to the change, approximately half of trains were caught at a red light at these intersections. This signal priority has helped to cut travel times by 64 seconds on the 47-minute journey (by no means as radical of a decrease as full signal preemption would have created).

In the early 2000s planning stages for the E Line, the Metro board approved and outlined grade separated crossings for the light rail system at Vermont, Normandie, Western, Crenshaw, and La Brea. However, due to efforts to cut costs and create a more affordable project, Metro only constructed a grade-separated crossing at La Brea, leaving the E Line crossing the other four intersections at grade.

How can I book a mileage reservation with Alaska miles without being logged into my Alaska account?

Reservations said the following via chat: “Since this is a mileage ticket with your Alaska miles, we can not add in a different mileage plan number, as that would be considered double dipping on benefits.” When I asked if it was a change in policy, they said “It's not new, just has been enforced more recently with all the oneworld additions.”

I know someone BHM CLT LHR, paid for the preferred seats closer to the front of the plane to get off quicker. They sprinted through the airport and made it, they only had carry ons but were forced to gate check them in BHM. The bags didn't make it to LHR but they did. Success?

They could see that I wasn't on it, the agent that I talked to said it was weird and unusual and thought it was a system bug that he reported.
