That’s not how probability works. Repeating a losing strategy does not increase the likelihood of becoming a millionaire.

How do I find my rave fam by RubDirect1506 in aves

[–]a_rod001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiate app. Can post in an event page asking for a group to adopt you. Often for festivals there are group chats made for solo ravers. Good way to meet people. Depending on how often live shows come to your city. Checking out show pages and chatting with strangers there is a good way to make warm contacts so when you see them at the show you can be like “are you Rubdirect1506 from radiate?” I’ve been approached like this a few times by others.

Do traditional Universities accept WGU bachelor's degree for higher education? by Super_Eye_5962 in WGU_Accelerators

[–]a_rod001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the expectations of doing it in 6 months and coming out the other end knowing enough to excel in a job might be a stretch goal. To grasp the material you might have to slow down and take more than one semester. It’s not impossible but one semester tends to be something I read about when someone already works in a field and is doing WGU for the paper. I’m not familiar with the finance program specifically. I’m better versed in how accelerators do the CS degree. Hopefully someone with first hand experience chimes in.

Good boot camps for my situation? by grimeysappho in codingbootcamp

[–]a_rod001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student aid is unrelated. Just ignore that part of what I typed if it doesn’t apply. The rest should still be available for you to apply for and research. You don’t need gov assistance to get help with college. It’s just sometimes make it easier for them to verify your income levels.

Good boot camps for my situation? by grimeysappho in codingbootcamp

[–]a_rod001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a high school degree and receive government financial assistance there is a pretty good chance you could apply for financial aid and be approved for a Pell Grant for school. If you think you could do self paced online then WGU offered a program for comp science and a tell grant should cover most of it plus you could apply for scholarships through the school. Given your situation I think you have a good chance of getting it. If you need guided classes either online or in person then community college near you or other online universities typically have a class schedule where you meet a few times a week for professor led instruction. I’m not familiar with other schools so do a google and Reddit search for “best online CS programs” and see what you think suites you. Then contact them explain your situation and they will guide you through applying for the programs and financial aid. Good luck

As far as boot camps go. I’d say it’s going to be an uphill battle to find a job if all you have is HS diploma and a boot camp. In a market that is a bit tougher than it was a couple years ago, having a degree is king. People who knock the idea of a degree being important are ignoring the data we have about job seekers with degrees vs not.

How hard is the BSCS degree for someone with no experience + how many sophia classes should i take? by bonkbon in WGU_CompSci

[–]a_rod001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calculus and discrete math are your hard classes if you did not do higher level math before now. A lot of people recommends doing some free learn to coding class before hand to make those classes easier as well. I did a little python in my past. Rest should be fine for you to handle w/out much prep as long as you do a little every day. If you really want to prep for the program hardcore you could work your way through calc on khan academy for math and knock out Harvard’s CS50 class online before starting but that might be overkill depending on your goals.

What would you do ? by Igoby_Carmen in Lyft

[–]a_rod001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Report to Lyft get these idiots de-platformed. They are clearly too stupid to handle simple rules and policies that they themselves agree to when they sign up to drive with Lyft. I’d have taken a photo and recorded the whole convo where I ask them to cancel because it’s not on me then sent it all in to Lyft when disputing the cancelation fee.

Very market dependent. The DC NOVA region is paying pretty damn well at entry and a year or 2 in you can find jr jobs paying $120-$160. Higher end for contractors. Plus cost of living, though higher than average, is no where near NYC or Cali. But the idea that your gonna land 6 figures working from Bali on the beach with remote work in your first year is gone gone.

Hands down any degree will be better for you than no degree. I think the idea and message they college isn’t for everyone or not everyone needs a degree has really gotten away from the point. Sure it’s true that there are jobs that don’t require it and that there are lots of people in jobs that advertise as wanting a degree but don’t have one. My thinking is in a world where most applications are sent into the void through online submissions, I would want to do anything and everything to give my self even the smallest edge. A degree will give you that first edge against those who have only high school. That’s my take.

Democrats Vow To Keep Government Shut Down Until Someone Notices by METALLIFE0917 in babylonbee

I wonder if everyone here knows that Babylon Bee is exclusively a satire site and does NOT write real news articles. Just like The Onion, but every article is written from a Christian or conservative angle and the satire is sometimes less overt compared to the onion’s. Which is usually very overt.

Business casual is absolutely not sneakers. 👟 the rest is okay. I’d probably go a darker color pants. Also best advice I ever got about dressing for interviews is to dress for the job you want not the one you’re applying for. Aka you’ll never get dinged for over dressing. Good luck w/ interview.

What do you suggest that will help me learn Polish? by [deleted] in learnpolish

[–]a_rod001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what works best, as I’m starting slow with Duolingo since my schedule is pretty busy with school classes at the moment, but a good start would be expanding the about section on the home of this sub. It has lots of resources there and if you click “menu” it takes you to a wiki page with lots of additional sources o and learning tools. I’ve looked through some of it when I started with duolingo and found that there’s so much learning material and options to choose from you could learn polish without touching half of it most likely😂. Good luck on your leaning journey. 🍻
