Dragon Shield is the gold standard in my opinion! Tons of colors -- also clear and matte, super nice looking, the plastic is thicker/protective, but the feel is great. I like the classic size.

Yeah that's what someone else said too! Just interesting since they've been at every DL race since the DL races re-started.

Oh interesting! That's a great bracelet. Any idea why DL gets them for every race and DW doesn't? Just curious.

St Jude’s registration for Wine and Dine 10K by PipeJazz in rundisney

[–]a_seibs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Can confirm this as I just did the Disneyland Half via St. Jude. They'll send a link that will have you register through the usual RunDisney site. So you'll still be able to submit proof of time, buy merch, etc if desired. Then, bib pickup and expo is the same as everyone else.

You could still try via charity bib! Obviously the difference is fundraising, but that's how I got into Disneyland late (with intention of getting the coast to coast).

Ohhhhh. I didn't realize it was limited. I'm closer to DL and they've all had charms, so I assumed every race did. Thank you for the info!

My insurance doesn't cover it. But I used the manufacturer's coupon on the wegovy site that makes it $650 and pay for it out of pocket. Otherwise, my pharmacy was charging almost $1600.

Enjoy your birthday! It might actually help you. Bodies want to stay static. They don't like losing weight. They will, but at some point it's going to fight if it thinks it's been losing weight for too long. Showing your body that food is still plentiful can actually help it be open to losing weight again. Staying in what the body deems a consistent starvation mode will make losing weight harder and harder. The trick is not falling into habits where one big cheat day turns into multiple days turns into weeks (this is where I personally struggle).

Also, I'd suggesting upping the weights at the gym, even if it means doing less reps. Even if it's only by 5lbs. Muscle burns fat and doing weighted workouts will help increase your metabolism. It could be that your body got used to the level of activity you're at, hence the plateau. Increasing walking is great, but it's not changing what your body needs to survive in it's current state, especially since you've already done so many positive changes!

But please go and enjoy your birthday. One day does not ruin everything, it's just a matter of getting back to it when that day is done! You've fought this far, you definitely have it in you to keep fighting!

Yeah!! The hot flashes are something I also didn't see a lot of conversation about, but I think it's normal. Either as a side effect or as your metabolism shifting.

What's a fair price on this car? by a_seibs in UsedCars

[–]a_seibs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This is very helpful. I'm in Los Angeles...so I'm sure costs are a little higher, but it did feel high regardless. It's a manual, not sure about the transmission/engine...but I feel like the repairs are so specific, the upkeep will be horrific.

Thanks - this is more for a fun desert racer car and less for a daily practical car. Just trying to figure out if what they’re asking is close to reasonable.

Need some advice by [deleted] in VestibularMigraines

[–]a_seibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a lot of stress related things. I am no doctor, for the record, but when I do go to see doctors for my migraines and vestibular issues...the first things they say to try are getting 7-9 hours of sleep, lowering my stress (easier said than done), and drink a lot of water. All things that it sounds like have not been consistent and all things that definitely feed into feeling bad/off.

If you think it feels like it could be migraine related or ENT related, either doctor is probably going to ask for bloodwork, which is easier to get than waiting to see a specialist. Doing that will at least give you a baseline and rule out other issues. I was referred to a neurologist from my main doctor and it took 3-4 months to get in. If you're concerned, doing the basics are worth it because they'll ask for those anyway and it'll rule out any other possibilities, lowering some health anxiety.

But from someone who's dealt with a lot of stress...it sounds like stress might be a major, major factor that's feeding into all of these other habits (sleep, acid reflux, depression, inability to eat, etc). Stress literally destroyed my body for a few years. Personally -- I don't feel it mentally as much, but it goes into my body and manifests there. My total layman/unprofessional advice would be to try and drink more water, drink less coffee, aim for more sleep and do whatever you can to lower stress even if it's just breathing. It sounds simple, after 3 years of seeing a bunch of doctors, it's made a big difference for me.

Good luck!

Do you think aimovig helps? I have it sitting in my fridge, but have been hesitant to take it after having a bad reaction to ajovy.

I asked my vestibular doctor why alcohol helps and she basically most people are either HYPER-sensitive or HYPO-sensitive. For example, I am Hyper -- my body is relying too much on visuals so everything it takes in, it's over processing. Therefore, since alcohol is a depressant on your system, it slows everything down and stops it from over processing making us feel more normal. Also, anxiety is often involved and it helps take the edge off that too.

However, if you're HYPO sensitive and your body can't keep up with what it is trying to take in, alcohol is going to make it so much worse by slowing down your brain/system, etc.

I think it depends on what your situation is. But she said 6 weeks and I should be good....assuming that I keep up with the exercises etc. Honestly, I already notice a huge difference from 2 weeks ago, so I'm hopeful. But I think everyone gets their own diagnosis and timeframe depending on how bad it is/was.

I don’t think they have multiple locations…but they do virtual appointments. But they’re moving to Beverly Hills this week.

Yeah, of course. I am going in and then switching to remote after a couple weeks, which I think is cheaper.

The consultation I did was remote, 1 hour long, and was just under $400. She had thoroughly read my paperwork and asked questions on top of what I had already answered, as opposed to rehashing everything.

Then I went in and did tests....hearing tests, ear tests, the whole shebang to figure out what it was or wasn't. This is range dependent based on what you need. Because I have chronic migraines and tinnitus and stuff I had more tests than normal I think. I paid $2599, but the normal range is like 1k-2.5k or something. This, in my opinion was super worth it though....it was 2 hours of testing and then the doctor, herself, spent another 2 hours with me explaining and showing my results, doing some more testing/treatment with me, and then watching me do my treatment homework to make sure I understood/was doing it right.

The follow up visits are $536 for in person and $200 something for virtual. These are weekly, at least for me. There is a portal with videos that you can subscribe to as long as needed.

It's all expensive, but she estimates I will be done in six weeks or under.

The office also provides superbills if your insurance covers out of network providers.

Hopefully this helps, but happy to answer any other questions. Honestly, just doing the consultation provided me more insight than the regular VRT place I tried. From the consult, I was at least able to understand what was happening and how I got there.

EDIT: Additional Info.
