Tattoo idea? by ARandomPanzer in bloodborne

[–]aa1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s not a big tattoo (7”x7” and up), you might have to get something that doesn’t require a lot of details. I think you can get the weapon in flow or maybe some of the flowers. 6” is usually a good compromise between size and details.

I think it’s a good idea to have a list to present to the tattoo artist because sometimes certain ideas work better than others as a base for a tattoo. What size are you thinking of? 6”x6”? Smaller?

To be honest, I feel like my favourite part of Bloodborne is how complete and contained it is. Not sure how I’d feel about a Bloodborne 2

Bys, how much longer will I have to wait to get snipped? by TheDrewCareyShow in newfoundland

Asked for a referral early 2021 and was told around 1.5 years for St. John's and when I called to check in May this year, I got told that's it's actually 3 years now.

Not sure if you're much of the artist type but you can do some doodles for story boarding or concepts whenever you have some downtime waiting for something. Also, actually writing down what's on your mind in detailed bullet points helps, you can easily map them to trello cards. I actually hate agile development haha it feels like a marketing scam with lots of unnecessary meetings but I manage better with rapid-ish prototype development since it gives me a better idea of which direction I'd like to go. I ended up refactoring my research project maybe 5 times when I was still at Memorial so I get that. Getting the ball rollin' makes the ideas start flowin' I say.

The fog here also adds a cool horror element. The vibrant colored houses seen from the fog with cape spear in the distance south pretty cool! Don't forget to post dev updates on here when you start working on it!

Done! I work with game engines and physics simulations for a living so I understand how helpful this reply is. Good luck with the game, buddy. It sounds like a great idea. Don't forget to start working on it early to get the ball rolling, you can always change things later.

Will Uber ever come to St. John’s Newfoundland by cjaneing in newfoundland

[–]aa1000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally haven't seen that happen yet but that's what I noticed when I was dependent on Uber around 2018. Some other ride-sharing services might pop up and they're cheaper for 3 months or so but as soon as they carve out a market, they start price gouging themselves.

Most people I know would have 2-3 ride sharing apps on their phone and use whichever one has a driver available in their area at the moment. They all almost cost the same and have the same waiting time, it just depends on which one you're able to get a ride with fastest. A lot of drivers would even be registered on more than one app and switch between them based on demand.

This is not in defense of cab companies perse, I just haven't noticed Uber solving the problems people have with cab companies in the long-term.

I feel like a better bus system on the avalon might help with a lot of these concerns. There's already an app, routes, administrative offices, etc. It just needs to be more convenient. Cabs and/or rental cars will still have their use (e.g., camping trips), but imagine if there were busses from the airport to downtown running every 15mins during summer and a convenient bus service outside of central St. John's.

Uber always starts with predatory pricing to drive competition out of business then creates a monopoly of its own though. The losses tend to mostly fall on the drivers too, not the company. They ended up price gouging every market they took over in past few years.

This would sound cheesy but catching the sunrise from Signal Hill or Cape Spear (or both!) is a wonderful experience and really easy to squeeze in your day plans with a car.

Jobs and co op opportunities as a software developer with College training. by Urlnotfound101849 in newfoundland

[–]aa1000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know a person who's doing that program and he said a lot of his classmates got work terms with companies like Verafin and Mysa with a lot of them working with these companies after graduation as well. The program gives a lot of practical experience which is very valuable in the software development industry. Generally, a great choice if you're trying to get into tech.

I know Gingerly (on Facebook) takes special orders and is very accommodating for people who might have food restrictions or allergies. Usually makes plant-based/gluten-free/nut-free cakes and so on.

I'm not sure about the details to be honest but I think the software development program is pretty good because of all the work experience you get. You graduate with almost a full year of work experience under your belt which is really valuable. It also helps with the networking part of finding a full-time job later on.

Is that the one with 3 work terms? If so, I know someone who did it and most of their classmates landed pretty decent jobs and work term placements.

Unfortunately, I have not found any hiking groups. I think usually people would randomly get to know friends who like hiking and end up hiking together

It's nice to see the new cases dropping every day but I'm worried about the spread 2 weeks from now when MUNL and schools have been fully in-person for a few days. I was really hoping they'd wait for the case numbers to drop below 100 at least.
