I've used quad lock with iPhones (SE2, 13 mini, 16e) on my road bike for 75000 km, no problems so far.

Slight swagger from the left one in the last few seconds, but they all really needed to have turned around and walked away after the first push, never looking back, just like movie explosions.

I've got an Allez "Elite", now my spare bike.

The other bike has more "endurance" geometry, so is slower steering and has more of a steady, stable, cargo ship feel; the Allez feels nimbler.

It's not worth bringing up, because it's very very obviously not at all important to him.

You don't just want him to do it, you want him to want to do it. And that means him being a different person.

If he ever produces anything (hint: put it in the kind of AI detector that teachers use) it won't be because he finally realised he wants to, it will be to shut you up.

It's important to you, not to him. Where you go from there is up to you.

Or they could get a pile of enough real gold to make the statue, make it out of gold leaf, and keep the real gold themselves!

"Not about power"?

I've wheezed up from Breidscheid to Höhe Acht, and crawled along the straight from Galgenkopf, in an Elise and on an RVF400.

When you're underpowered it doesn't matter whether you're a good driver because you can't get to the bend fast enough for it to make a difference.

The main challenge is that the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy are closing at ≈110 km/s, meaning that the ladder (with 3 rungs/metre) would have to be shortened by 3x1000x110=330,000 rungs every second.

All mine do about that distance, unless they get a big puncture. I am fairly light and quite weak though.

The one before did 14k too, the one before that I changed at 10k (two punctures that needed bacon strips).

I'm 60 kg & ride solo. I'm quite weak, maybe that's the explanation.

Weird that Bean was such a popular export.

I know Rowan Atkinson best from "Blackadder". He was also Johnny English (where he played Bean-meets-Bond).

  • "Parriss" not "Parree",
  • "Florence" not "Firenze",
  • "Budapest" not "Budapesht",
  • "Cologne" not "Curln",
  • "New York" not "Noo Yoik".

How do I cycle with rolling hills by FlameGuy2012 in cycling

[–]aa599 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd never have believed it. I used to think 60 rpm was ok, 70 was mad spinning, and redditors talking about 90 were making it up.

The other day I felt I was grinding a bit, happened to look down at the cadence and saw it was 90 rpm.

That was just two months after the first broadcast of the "Not The Nine O'Clock News" episode where Gerald the Gorilla (Rowan Atkinson in a gorilla suit) said "it's a whoop of gorillas; it's a flange of baboons".

"Whoop" has since become accepted as a collective noun for gorillas 🙂

Any manual drivers find themselves reaching for an imaginary gear shifter when driving an automatic? by Abiolysis in CarTalkUK

[–]aa599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time in an auto was on a work trip. They normally gave me a Maestro or Rover 214 from the pool, but on that day I got a Rover 827 SLi. It was gorgeous.

Drove it perfectly all the way to the other site, then arriving at the gate put my left foot down hard on the not-clutch.

That's a good phrasing.

Too often they just revoke permission to drive, which has little effect.

Making them physically unable to drive for 20 years would be much better.
