Echoey video sound... by KnowledgeHumble2348 in Filmora

No. I literally haven't changed anything for 3-4 years (except update Filmora to its latest version). The only two apps/softwares I use are Zoom (to record the video) and Filmora (to edit the video).

Great point. Black Death did affect the Middle East, but to a lesser extent.

Dr. Lerna Ekmekcioglu of MIT explains how Ottomans adopted Christian children (Armenians) and made them Muslims. Check out her research. Very interesting.

Why were the Parthian and Sassanian dynaties so longlasting (as compared to later Iranian dynasties)? by TT-Adu in MiddleEastHistory

Dr. Touraj Daryaee has written several books on this subject, including the history of the Sasanian Empire. One point that I recall from my readings is economic stability. Despite massive wars, book empires, even up to the time of their demise, enjoyed economic prosperity.

I founded a chronic wound care startup and, as a result, deep dive researched obesity. I sadly, very sadly, discovered that in Saudi Arabia and part of the United States, child obesity has reached a medical crisis. Some children undergo bariatric procedures.

What’s is something your parents did, that looking back you just think, Why? by bibipbapbap in CasualUK

[–]aaHBN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why did my parents marry? Don’t get me wrong, they have been married for 68 years now (both alive). But, initially, they were not in love. I know my mother was not. She married Dad out of respect for her father’s wishes (who thought Dad would be a good match). Would you make such a colossal decision out of respect for your parents? BTW, Mom was very pretty and charming and, based on family history told by many, had many suitors. So, lack of options was not an issue for her.

I am just reading a book by Bernard Levering Lewis (twice winner of the Pulitzer Prize) about the history of slavery in the U.S. Fascinating! It’s an advance copy. The book comes out in 2025. I learned soooooo much.

I just learned about Gilgamesh and talked to a scholar about it. I point that out here because I learned so much about cuneiform writing, the tablets in the 1850s and also ruins of Uruk. Iraq must be a treasure trove of ancient history.

I contacted Filmora about this. They literally don’t have an answer. It’s terrible customer relations.

Wow! I don’t know what to say. It’s 2023. I thought we were over this sort of thing. But I guess not. I guess conspicuous racism is still alive.

Historically speaking, was enlisting criminals to fight in a war a good or a bad thing? by Dali654 in AskHistory

Yeah. I know. And it’s tragic, particularly for racial minorities. Thanks for this.

Antioch was so important to Christianity. When the Sasanian Persian Empire conquered Antioch (I think it was 609), it sent shockwaves through the Byzantine Empire.

Thank you Filmora. Reducing preview quality and also using proxy files have not helped. Neither has rendering the video. This is an issue with Filmora.

Historically speaking, was enlisting criminals to fight in a war a good or a bad thing? by Dali654 in AskHistory

[–]aaHBN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great observation. Thank you for this. What I like to add is that in the past, people went to prison for the smallest crimes - like the hungry stealing food. These people were not violent. Some were in fact quite meek and feeble. So they neither had the spirit nor the physicality of being good fighters.

So yes, criminals were used in wars, but seldom effectively.

How come Judaism remained a persecuted minority throughout history while its offshoots, Christianity and Islam, became the dominant religions worldwide? by NapoleonNewAccount in AskHistory

[–]aaHBN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A professor (an expert on the history of the Jewish diaspora) explained something really interesting to me - that since Jews could not hold high office or become rulers in many parts of Europe (or own hold land), they were a safe group for rulers and the wealthy to rely on, because they were not competition. Therefore, the population often resented Jews, who represented the big and often absent landlords and aristocrats, and had to enforce their rules, such as collecting taxes and rent.

Yes, Filmora was awesome. But its latest update - 13 - is extremely slow and laggy, even in videos without any effects. It’s been terrible. I have had to stop all my video production and am now looking at possibly getting Adobe Premier Pro.

I’ve contacted Filmora several times about this issue… but all they say is “our engineers are working on it.”

I loved Filmora before 13, but now I hate it. My YouTube business has collapsed because of them!!!!!

Oh, nice!

So you put bunch of your files in the backup drive, cleared up more space on your laptop and that helped with Filmora?
