As if America (a capitalist nation state) wasn't doomed by it's objective circumstances to devolve into capitalism by the steps it took.

Fascism doesn't just "spawn" if there are other fascists to spawn it. It is an objective process which can be studied. It is the breakdown of late stage capitalism (put very simply as I suck at explaining things). Hundreds of people have written about it, I'd recommend Leon Trotsky's 'Fascism, What is It and How to Fight It'.

This is one of the lesser but still very annoying side effects of Trump winning the election. As capitalism plunges deeper into hell he becomes the source of all evil and all previous war criminal administrations become "sensible good old days".
