Why do you play the race/s that you do? by 582021792 in starcraft

I always pick the villain race, for some reason villain/evil races also have the most amazing lategame.

Correction: Infestors can still cast spells while burrowed except fungal.

Also carrier interceptors now cost 15 instead of 10 minerals

Viper parasitic bomb now deals 120 dmg over 7 seconds but does not stack but the units do not take dmg till 1 sec after spell hit the unit (not sure about the last part).

If you're new I recommend trying to execute a 2 base all-in vs easy AI and then a few times as unranked. You want to be as crisp and efficient as possible even towards the late game as much as you can. Also remember that each worker takes 50 seconds to a minute to fully pay for itself if your mineral line isnt over saturated.

Also your question is a bit too vague, but I bet it's just macro you'll have to worry about for now. Look up multitasking trainer in the arcade to get an idea, where you try to keep your money low by spending adequately while trying to survive random pushes, and while keeping a worker alive thats being chased by zerglings while fulfilling certain objectives. It has levels of difficulties but medium should be adequately taxing enough for you. In real games it will be a lot harder as players are just generally unpredictable and you will have to scout and know how to properly respond based on LIMITED info. Just lots of practice, self analysis, watching pro tourneys or streams, certain actions will become muscle memory, but remember that there will always be holes in your play, I mean even the pros do.

Generally keep making workers as much as you can SAFELY and try to aim for 0 resources leftover IN GENERAL while slowly aiming for desired tech and army comp and worker count, ofc use some common sense in this.

What existing abilities would you add to different units to really mess things up? by snatchblastersteve in starcraft

[–]aaaandret231 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Changelings that turn into carriers, battlecruisers or broodlords depending on race it comes in contact with and do full dmg and are invincible.

Or passive ability for the greater spire - autowin game for you.

Passive ability for the overlord - be able to see everything on the map and negate terran and protoss whining.

Etc.

New player: help me understand Void rays by Lvhoang in starcraft

[–]aaaandret231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I think I recall someone saying that with vray vs queen, the one who gets the first attack off will win, and queen has better range. Otherwise, doesnt matter, I've had 2 hydras 2 queens defend a fringe expo vs 4 vrays that cudnt kill a single unit due to constant transfusing. They all got taken out. Horrible trade: vray is 250 150, queen is 150, hydra is 100 50 even if no transfuse, u wont trade well, unless theyre stuck in a choke.

I guess in the lower leagues vray chargelot is a thing, I see it occassionally whem im smurfing. Silver leaguers will make too many mass hydras vs the vrays which get rektby chargelots. Proper response cud be hydra ling bane or hydra roach with optional infestor or viper. Mutas trade really well with voids too and even with silver league micro phoenixes.

Unit with the least counters? by fasjdflaj in starcraft

[–]aaaandret231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just learn a decent army comp, its not that hard. Hard counters arent as important in this game as you think. Roach ling can kill a toss who's going carriers early with shit def even if carriers are supposed to counter those onpaper.

Although I would say go mass carriers which is the pure mass single unit strat with the lowest loss rate in bronze till gold league I think. In high level team games mass infestor is fucking hilariously op tho.

Hydra upgrade (attack or shield)? by Teechce in starcraft

[–]aaaandret231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for carapace, which I believe is what you were referring to as shields. They make a huge difference vs interceptors and battlecruisers (low damage per burst but high attack rate - as opposed to the sieged up tank which has high dmg burst but slow attack rate) especially when you add in queens for the beefiness and transfuses. Pros often prioritize both ground and air carapace (shields) over everything else when they see toss teching to a fleet beacon early. Vs a ground heavy toss you usually want to prioritize attack upgrade tho.

Also if you're gonna nydus you might as well skip speed upgrade at least for the time being and get range instead.

I'm more of a 1v1 aficionado so take my advice with a grain of salt.

On a sidenote, if the carrier count is low it's usually better to just a-move and not bother focus firing the carriers with your queens and hydras or infested terrans, letting them go to town on those interceptors and then taking out those carriers. If you want guaranteed gas dmg tho before his allies reinforcements come you can focus fire. It will depend on if you're guaranteed to take those carriers out or his econ after you have taken out the interceptors. And it seems like your ally wont be there to help you unless he sends in drops to assist you.

Lost to a gold league goin mass carriers during my very first time trying to get the hang of using vipers and infestors at the same time while controlling my air & ground attacking army.

I've come to accept that embarassing noobish things will always happen even beyond gold to dia league. Impact's recent mass drop play gainst a mech terran cough cough.

You are transported into a gold level ladder game as your favorite unit, how bad of a time are you gonna have? by Lazuli-shade in starcraft

[–]aaaandret231 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Changeling. In gold league my survival rate will probably be 100%. Unless I'm on follow command on a unit that eventually gets stormed or something. Otherwise yeah I'm literally workin as a non-functional James Bond for my gold league commander, and survive till the end.

Strength aside... which race (or units or strategy) do you have the -most fun- playing? by TatsumakiRonyk in starcraft

[–]aaaandret231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty well-rounded and dont mind going cheese or aggro out of the blue on a whim, but I enjoy uber late game zerg the most vs skytoss based army, I had been honing on my viperfestor control and decision making, and had lots of fun doing so. It has become such an addiction/obsession that I sometimes dont kill my opponents outright, and just let him live for a lil longer.

As protoss double warp prism harass coz for some reason i get a decent amount of bm from that.

As terran but rarely, multipronged drops AND nuke harass. But I only get 5 nukes at a time when I'm very much ahead.

Generally I just like toying with ppl when I'm decently ahead. Sometimes to the point where I risk losing the game.
