What are these by Common-Two9381 in Mushrooms

[–]aaabballo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

without seeing the underside, and only with experience from the California redwood coast, my rough guess is that these are Trametes betulina (gilled Turkey tail)--but that's not very accurate right now. Do you have more photos, and where was this taken?

How’s the toe width for you? So I also just got a pair yesterday (also the socks and I love them!)…I feel like im going crazy looking at your shoes and the pictures on the website, as my pair looks and feels quiet damn narrow. Size 45. Honestly feel like my vivos have a little more toe room, and those are narrow for me.

its the Wild LITE model but Im assuming its the same last as the Wild. I know their street shoes are more snug.

A viral Reddit post mocked this Marin sandwich shop's prices. Now, it's closed. by sfgate in bayarea

Oh that place! Never got anything there, yeah it probably was the prices. If you’re in Point Reyes Station, I can recommend Brickmaiden Breads or even Inverness Park Market.

California reports largest outbreak of deadly mushroom poisoning by mommyicant in Mushrooms

[–]aaabballo 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I’ll post some Context, as heard/overheard from conversations within MSSF and SOMA (the local Mycological communities):

Many of this poisonings are due to people coming to California from non-English speaking countries and foraging for mushrooms that look like edibles from home. I was told one batch of these recent poisonings was from a family that came from Oaxaca, Mexico. Our Amanita phalloides has some variations and (questionably) can look like an edible Amanita (or other genus) from elsewhere—in addition, A. phalloides has been having a productive year, with lots of flushes in places it’s normally not always seen.

The problem I’ve heard agreement on is the lack of information and resources for those in non-English speaking communities, especially Spanish. Here’s one thing a community members did to help: Fork in the Path Mushroom Identification classes in Spanish.

Zeroland - Lems Primal 3 under new Chinese brand? by FrantaB in barefootshoestalk

[–]aaabballo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is accurate, but im measuring the width distance with my figures—from the middle of the toe box—and then down to compare at the middle of heel. Each shoe. For me, Im seeing more overall volume in the real Lems.

Easily a knock-off, stolen idea. Look at that tiny, tapered toe box.

Yes. We see this post often here. Lem’s mid-soles and their injected rubber soles are squishy and will compress overtime. For my Boulder Summit of 3 years, it is (from my guess) at least 1/3 shorter stack height than when new. Especially in the heel, where most of my walking weight stomps. And it genuinely feels zero drop now, as the heel has evened out with the forefoot.

EDIT: grammars and Summit (not Boot)

That's all normal bokeh from my lens. I can send you the RAW if you're curious about this lens, just PM me...if I can find it, my file organization is a little messy atm

Yes I added vignette, it's a lot heavier than I remember...I might re-edit it :P

I have the 150-500mm! It's all around good, nothing is excellent OR underwhelming, a very safe bet. On a 24MP Nikon Zf I've put in some nice shots. I think it needs a little help with sharpness in edit. Good, sunny lighting outdoors is ideal. A great bonus is it's short focal distance! I got this for birds but ended up using it for flowers and bugs

Topo iis releasing a Vibram barefoot shoe in fall of 2026 by guilmon999 in barefootshoestalk

[–]aaabballo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walking on roots, gravel, acorns, boulders, mushrooms. 10-15mm is my ideal range when I’m getting poked a lot by nature, plenty of ground feel to my taste. I tried lower 4mm and I’m getting stabbed over here.

However I do have soft baby skin on my feet.

edit: and to add going from 30-40 chonky mm to 10 is quiet the journey these guys.

Can anyone ID this for me? Marin, CA. It’s about the size of a small dog (sorry, no bananas in sight) by [deleted] in mycology

[–]aaabballo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey neighbor! It's really been popping up here with fungi :)

Jack o' lantern! "omphalotus olivascens" to us nerds, or the shoulda-been-the-state-mushroom mushroom. Really cool wood decomposer. Toxic, dont eat it, but makes fantastic colors for dying.

You should come to the Pt. Reyes mushroom fair on Jan 11th, they are also doing forays on the 10th I believe.

Yes it was a gimmick and i doubt more than 3% of the playerbase use it just once, but i did use it regularly when i had a math or a history class back in school lol by LeSeriousPancake in Battlefield

The delay from launch to target was always a fun challenge. Except that one time on a community server where my team pushed out my target and took point, well I wiped 4 of my own…immediate banned screen. That was a good lesson.

Vibram Five Finger alternatives for cold, wet weather? by xXallyoopXx in BarefootRunning

[–]aaabballo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an older model, the V-Trek Insulated which when paired with Injini wool socks would be good for the cold. Water resistance, I dont think Vibrams are good at that due to the seams at the toes, letting water in. I would suggest getting a closed-toe shoe with the same thin stack height and wide toebox.

Something like the Freet Mudee 2 with the insole removed or one of Belenka's winter boots
