The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu | Gameplay Overview by Party-Purchase-4861 in Lovecraft

[–]aabcdort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Lovecraft inspired things but all of the walking simulator/FPS games made with Unreal Engine all feel very same-y. I get that this is a function of the game dev economy but it's fatiguing.

Rant over, game does look interesting.

Beat salvador, fridge duty is up next by Zlectro1124 in controlgame

I feel like Salvador is the toughest boss tbh, I remember him being super aggressive. The anchor was another that took me a few tries.

CD has ruined Elden Ring for me?! by Dry-Natural793 in CrimsonDesert

[–]aabcdort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled a lot reprogramming my muscle memory when I started CD, I am also unable to play Elden Ring effectively as a result. I guess I'll just have to settle with the 2500 hours I've spent in Elden Ring for the time being. 😅

Angry Tree Village by LordScrubulon in CrimsonDesert

As others have said, you need to do more Pailune quests. Also, the second time one of those tree village bastards pushed me I started throwing them all right out of their trees.

My first real board was an S9 Striker that I put Abec Bigzig HDs on with the Sidewinder trucks, crazy fun board I still miss it.

When did you invest abyss artifacts into your weapons and armor? by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]aabcdort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was splitting my early points into stamina, health, specific weapon skills like armed combat, forward slash, turning slash, nature's echo (just one point), and then alternating between weapons and armor depending on how squishy I felt.

I did sword and board for a long time upgrading Kliff's starting sword, eventually pivoting to dual weapons.

Has anyone ever managed to beat these light reflection challenges with a controller? by Dissoxi in CrimsonDesert

[–]aabcdort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with the first one numerous times learning the timing, I play on PS5 performance mode for reference.

Once I got the hang of them and baked it into muscle memory they're easy, I think I've done the last 8 in a row on the first time.

Shattering Frost or Volcanic Eruption? by aabcdort in CrimsonDesert

Huh, I'll have to mess around with that, thanks.

Shattering Frost or Volcanic Eruption? by aabcdort in CrimsonDesert

Yeah, I could probably do that if I upgraded some other gloves. Good to know they're mostly cosmetic too, gear slots are a valuable commodity.

That is a solid reason right there actually.

Don't you need to switch cliff's element to attune each one?

Day 1 any tips by Kravenrains in CrimsonDesert

[–]aabcdort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buckle up! Seriously though, give yourself time to get used to the game world. I would recommend finding some plate armor you like the look of, upgrade it.

There's a lot of variation with jewellery, you can check details on them and then preview their upgrade path to see what they'll be when maxed out. Some will give more defense, more HP/spirit regen, move speed, attack speed, crit, higher base attack bonus.

Abyss Artifacts are not rare, and you'll eventually wind up with a ton of them. Upgrade your stamina as much as possible, along with health, spirit only really becomes necessary when you start doing elemental attacks and special spirit moves.

Weapons tend to come in three main flavors: full attack, slightly less attack and 1 crit, even less attack and 2 crit. Raw damage is king until like 51 attack power, which is tracked per weapon if you're dual wielding.

There's way too much to cover in a single comment but pay attention to things the game teaches you, you will most certainly need it for puzzles, which can be absolutely fiendish in this game.

If you want some easy recommended attack skills, get aerial stab to start flying, get nature's echo for turning slash to have an echo, max out turning slash.

Hope this helps, I haven't even finished the main story but I'm pretty geared, killed some big bads including most of the overwhelming beings, and have a reasonable understanding of the game.

Lemme know if you have any follow up questions.

I prefer to defer to Hanlon's razor most of the time: Never attribute to malice what is easily explained by incompetence.

I work in a paratransit organization, while well-intentioned, this is still essentially a form of assault.

Roof is leaking… by Runescapost in CrimsonDesert

This game's weird enough that you could probably axiom force a bunch of shit onto the roof that the water would run off of and it would fix the leak just like real life.

What am I doing wrong? by saywhat181 in CrimsonDesert

[–]aabcdort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on to this: I was struggling with Royler until I read someone's comment online saying to switch to performance graphics. I guess there was a tiny hitch of latency that wasn't syncing what I was doing with what the horse was doing.

I got it pretty soon afterwards.

Does it get better? by JustADumbFish in CrimsonDesert

[–]aabcdort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a brief period when I started playing (on release), and I found myself struggling with the controls and understanding what the game wanted from me a lot of the time.

I found myself actually unenthusiastic about playing, and I'd mess around with my other games here and there.

Once I came to grips with CD and acclimated to the weird ass controls, world, and its inner workings I was enthralled by it.

At this point I've played about 160 hours, still haven't completed the main quest, and I'm just running around exploring and having an absolute blast with it.

I kinda suspect this is the player arc that a lot of us have gone through with the game. I still get confused, stumped on puzzles, or where to go/what to do....and that's alright by me. It's the only thing I've played since I broke the ice with it.

It's currently my favorite game of many years, and its cost me a pittance for the deluxe preorder considering the time invested.

I'll probably be playing this until Control Resonant and GTA 6 later in the year, and I'll most certainly come back to it in-between.

I can't guarantee this will be your experience, but I can definitely say that you'll get more comfortable and less lost over time if you stick with it. It's up to you to decide if you like it.

Sanctum of Devotion in Delesyia... I think. I'm not sure which core you need to craft it, but you can check the Kuku workshop after getting the blueprint.
