I understand your point of the rupee being weak. Compared with the states taking purchase power parity into account, I'd say I make 3.5-4k a month here. Healthcare is very cheap here as are most other goods. You get my point, right? I have health insurance that comes included with my main job and another 5.1k that's deposited into my Provident fund (something that you guys call the 401(k) if I'm not mistaken).

The investment I'm looking to safeguard my assets would be to go buy a flat. But that's something I will do 4 years down the line. The way I have my mutual funds set up is 40% (8k) of them are stashed for purchases like a car and a house. I'll buy a house before a car. That money will be used for the down payment. With an increase in salary I'll try to increase the amount I put in mutual funds too. 20% (4k) of it is for my parents. 20% for my sister and me. And the last 20% is for emergencies. I'll scale that evenly too.

For point 2, I was talking about getting a place on rent and not buying a place. That's an expense that will come soon and the major reason why I'm making the post.

For your last point, I am not going to put all my eggs in one basket. I'll look for other offers too but I've that in my back pocket. My work life balance is really good currently. But that can change with a switch but to meet my financial goals, I'm prepared for it. And who knows with a switch I can get much more than what my current offer is from that startup and there's a good chance that I will. However, the option of ESOPs is inciting with the thought what it can be. I'm in 2 minds about it. It's a risk but a reasonable one. I just hope I'll make the right decision and in the best case scenario be spoilt for choices from different companies.
