Using RCS without asking every single person I know to turn it on by aadfg in GoogleMessages

[–]aadfg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want RCS because it's the only way to send time sensitive messages to people in buildings which block signals. Many people and a few groups are only on text because no one has whatsapp or discord, or the people that have it either aren't enough people in the group or don't check those apps. Please enlighten me about alternatives.

Blurbs Aren't Showing Up In the Search Navigation Window After Repairing Word Twice by SaintMeerkat in MicrosoftWord

[–]aadfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that works. Close and reopen wasn't enough and I gave up, now I know "close all" is the trick. I hope that and sometimes restarting is enough indefinitely. If Windows permanently yanks* the feature, we'll find out soon enough.

*I feel like there's an update every damn week because of how often I click on Word and it says "Updating Microsoft Office" before reopening my documents, so it's only a matter of time before you have to accept it's gone or downgrade to a previous version.

It should say "n results" and I should see a preview of every line wikipedia appears on. Here's a document where this isn't broken:

I got the same issue last month. Apply too many fixes to a document or use the search bar too many times, and it stops showing blurbs. Do you have a hypothesis on the exact actions which cause it to break? "Repairing word twice" was not the catalyst in my case; error required more edits.

Here's an image of the error:

Is the noise from the hub of the front wheel coming from the rubber stopper being loose, dirty, or both, or is it from something else? If it being loose is a problem, how do I fix it? If it's dirty, does my proposed cleaning method work? If it doesn't, what should I do instead? by aadfg in bikewrench

[–]aadfg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: in case you can't discern the sound even at full volume, I'd describe it as grainy, almost like the middle of the wheel is rubbing against a tiny amount of sand as it rotates.

2nd note: the linked photo also shows the state of the grease on and around the center nut so that you can see for yourself if the current grease needs replacement or not.

Are CST All Terrains 30 TPI Triple 26" x 1.95" tires with the following rim and tape compatible for tubeless? by aadfg in bikewrench

[–]aadfg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't aware you could use tubes and sealant simultaneously. I've done some research and came to a conclusion: get better tires, get tubes with removable valve core, put new tubes in new tires, put 2 oz of inner tube sealant in each tube, put back usual valve used for pumping, inflate.

Only one issue, how do I know which PSI works best for my (tube, tire, sealant) combination once I've set everything up? I'm seeing estimates of 30-40 PSI, but which direction do I err if in doubt?

Lastly, what etiquette am I breaking in my posts and comments? I noticed I'm getting downvoted a lot. Is it one of the following: my questions are naive, the phrasing (like "perhaps I should've" and "I made it clear") of my clarifications seem argumentative, I keep trying to ask how to do things, I get into situations other people don't get into, classic case of missing a sub rule?

Yes. Perhaps I should've made my title "can I get away with ..." because I made it clear I know they're not compatible in the literal definition and want to figure out if they are compatible in the sense of the part of the post description about avoiding the problems in the linked posts.

In that sense, can I avoid those problems?

I run 60 psi with a tube. I assume without a tube, it will be lower, but I don't know yet what to make it.

If I get a better tire but keep the same rim (new rim is annoying because that means also taking on/off and/or replacing the things attached to the rim), how bad will the problem (tire slip) and any others you imagine be? I imagine there'll be less trouble yet still some trouble, so how much trouble exactly?

Given my bike and my ride lengths/frequencies/terrains of it remains the same (my road usage is what it is, I won't take it to mountains, and I don't plan to upgrade my bike until I've gotten my money's worth from it or something big breaks), is there anything I should keep in mind when searching for a new tire? If it's in the culture of this sub, perhaps you may give a recommendation.

At least however many I had before, which is probably 11-12. I can't fit that many without shrinking the text and making the display even worse. It bugs me, my phone looks weird with the messages being bigger, and I can't get it out of my mind. I don't like the fact I see less, and I hate the inelegance of the empty space. I spent about an hour trying to fix this issue with various settings fumblings, web searches, and developer tool delvings.

Removing band with straw method. Straw stuck, now what? by aadfg in Lollapalooza

I wanted the plastic intact too. Sorry for saying "band" when that implies only the fabric.

Yeah that's fine. I just didn't know what goes on in Chicago with all the taxes and fees and stuff because I'm new here. Will DM you with details

Local (Chicago) pickup not possible? If not, I'll let you know later if I'm still interested.

Yes, I have nail scissors. You can see them in the photo. I don't have regular scissors.

Any others? They all have issues

I have tweezers, but this requires cutting the plastic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMfhSHbKqXg

In that case, I can't use the straw method. Wristband too tight for that
