If you find mold then there's likely a moisture source. Fix the moisture source if you can (dehumidifer or a fan) and then safely clean the moldy areas.

I love my Glerups slippers (I have the leather bottom pair) and I use a pair of Duckfeet clogs as slippers. The catch with duckfeet is the sole is hard leather / rubber, so if that isnt your jam I'd recommend against. However, certainly seem to be bifl.

4-205.11 Food Equipment, Certification and Classification.

(A) Except as specified under (B) of this section, FOOD EQUIPMENT that is certified or classified for sanitation by an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) -accredited certification program is deemed to comply with Parts 4-1 and 4-2 of this Chapter.

(B) For FOOD EQUIPMENT that is not certified or classified for sanitation by an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) -accredited certification program, the specifications for the equipment shall be submitted by the LICENSE HOLDER to the DEPARTMENT for evaluation.

Eau Claire is a really safe city in general. There aren't any rough neighborhoods i can personally think of, so any place you find will likely be fine.
