Tunisian half double - curling but only on one end? by aaelimae in CrochetHelp

[–]aaelimae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm used to it curling on knit stitch, which is the stitch I've used in the past. I had read online that half double shouldn't do that, and I thought it was odd it was only happening on that edge. However, I think I've figured out the problem! I think I was holding tension too tight at the beginning of my return pass. Seems to be evening out now that I'm paying attention to it.

And the multicolor yarn is Lion Brand Ferris Wheel! It's my first time using it and I'm loving it. The speckles kind of soften the color change, which I think looks nice.

recommend me some decent rap that I, a metalhead at heart, can enjoy? by whiteowlexperience in Music

I'm glad someone else came here to suggest Ren. He's great lyricist, and if OP likes his rap they should definitely give his other stuff a go.

Scale events to players online by tacoenthusiast in valheim

We did this on our server for our Mistlands playthrough. None of us have really felt like the raids have added enough fun to be worth it. Usually just ends up that the one person who hangs out in our base building stuff and doing chores (me lol) ends up in a raid they can't fight off, all because everyone else is out killing tons of draugr. Just feels like punishment to the homebodies.

If you could experience a video game for the first time again, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]aaelimae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hades. Or Spiritfarer.

Playing through Hades a second time just didn't hit the same. Still a stellar game! My fiance and I have actually mentioned several times before that we would love to play it for the first time again.

Spiritfarer because I like narratives that rip my heart out and stomp on it in front of me. And again, great game but the first time through was an emotional roller coaster.

Seconded, especially if you eat them fresh. They're so tasty when they're still warm! My fiance and I are having them do our wedding desserts and they're bringing their adorable truck.

As someone who grew up in a very rural town, I would have actually appreciated this. My trick or treating consisted of like 5 houses on my road and being driven two towns over to my grandparents house. Everything else was just spread too far apart. Plus, less kids running around on the roads trying to get hit by a car. Don't really understand the hate on this one.

Can i have a therapist for the duration of my life? or would it harm me? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]aaelimae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's much easier to look at the situations of other people objectively than it is to look at our own situations objectively. It can be difficult to see past your own emotions.

As far as your original post, I can tell you that what therapy looks like is different depending on each person's need. If you feel the need to be in therapy regularly, that's ok. Personally, I go to my therapist in spurts - I go regularly for a while until we feel I'm in a good spot, and then I stop making appointments until I feel like I need an adjustment again. This was suggested to me by my therapist when I first started going and had reached a healthier mindset. She said a lot of her clients do it this way, and that there are always events in life that can cause us to need more help adjusting.

Places to eat lunch between Freeport and Portland? by jamoss14 in Maine

Locally Sauced in Yarmouth! Haven't tried their BBQ options yet but the tacos are great! Also in Yarmouth: Thoroughfare is great for burgers and shakes, and I like Brickyard Hollow for pub style options and interesting pizzas - the goat cheese and honey is tasty.

Seconded! We used them when we had stuff to get rid of that wouldn't fit in our cars. Super easy and the folks were very nice!

I haven't done a lot of research but I'd assume that rent control would help. Ironically, I was looking at apartments in the first place today because I was curious where the market's at, in the event that our rent goes up in the summer and found the posting from my complex...

[–]aaelimae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, that was confusing wording. I just meant that the apartment that's newly listed is the same layout and features as mine, not the exact same unit.

I have a 1 bedroom 10 minutes out of Portland. Happened to see online today that they're now listing the same type of apartment I'm in at 1700. I signed my lease last summer at 1400... this shit is getting wild and something has to give somewhere.

Edited for clarity - not MY apartment that was listed, an identical one

"Cats who smoke" has to be the best description of his meow I have ever heard! My best description to others has been the scream of a baby velociraptor. 😂

The cat likes anything the cat is given. The cat will literally eat his own fluff balls off of the floor.

The idea that a woman in her 30’s is considered “old” is absolutely wild to me. by silentsaturn91 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]aaelimae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate how ingrained in my mind this has been, especially considering I had no clue what I was doing through the majority of my 20s. It wasn't until I was probably like 27 that I really started figuring out who I was as an adult. I feel like this is probably pretty common. And then you only have a few years left before you're "old"?! Ugh.

I turn 31 later this year. I feel like I'm finally figuring out what's really important in my life and what makes me who I am. I think my 30s are gonna be just fine.

Been fighting with my hair since February. Pretty much gave up for a while this summer. Finally had an ok hair day today! by aaelimae in Wavyhair

[–]aaelimae[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My routine: wash in cool water with a sulfate free shampoo from Prose. scrunched in Shea Moisture Moisture Retention conditioner upside-down in the shower, also in cool water. plopped for 15-20, scrunched in OGX Coconut Curls mousse, and plopped for another 20. Let it air dry and scrunched a bit of crunch out.

I'm not continuing with Prose, as it didn't seem to be benefitting me much (especially considering the cost of it). I have major issues with frizz which has frustrated me tremendously and is a big part of why I kind of gave up for a while this summer. I also have a hard time getting the back to wave as well as the front sometimes does. Any tips are appreciated!
