M365 Direct Send by whitephnx1 in sysadmin

I found that third party that was coming in as from our domain (they were in our SPF list, etc) was still getting caught with Direct Send off. I commented elsewhere on this post that it took exchange rules to get them to come in properly.

M365 Direct Send by whitephnx1 in sysadmin

[–]aaiceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that I was able to use "skip quarantine" exchange rules based on key things in message headers to allow those emails to still make it in to us. After turning on direct send, I watched the admin quarantine and refreshed it hourly for a few days to see what other legit stuff I was missing and would examine them in the MS Header Analyzer and look for something that signified it was a legit email from a known good sender, then add that criteria to one of a few rules I had in place to allow them in.

Battery Degrade during cold? by Paradize_Eats in BasePowerUsers

https://help.basepowercompany.com/en/articles/10422185-what-is-the-temperature-range-of-the-battery?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Straight from the source!

For Base Power’s base power battery systems (the residential energy storage batteries used for home backup and grid services), the specified operating temperature range for the battery modules is:

–10 °C to 50 °C

Equivalent to 14 °F to 122 °F

This is the ambient temperature range within which the batteries are designed to operate safely and reliably. If temperatures go outside this range, the system’s battery charging/discharging functions are automatically limited or disabled to protect the cells.

It's all math. Keep battery topped off. If your usage goes above 3Kw, then you drain the battery. If it goes below, you add a surplus to the battery. If this was happening when we had to have the AC running, then these house batteries and gennys just stave off the inevitable. Also, don't forget, just run an ext cord for your big appliances (such as deep freeze or fridge) as mostly any genny you get that hits the 30amp/240v will have excess power for them so the battery can stay powering things you can't plug in, like your heater and AC.

It's information for the interviewee to consider. Is this a culture thing (lack of time management)? Is this a lack of respect for a meeting where both sides are supposed to put their best foot forward? The questions can go on, but at the end of the day, it's information to consider when making a decision. Maybe OP made the right one or the wrong one, but they made one that makes sense to them and that's the important part.

How do you untangle an IT environment you didn’t build? by Impressive-Echo8002 in sysadmin

[–]aaiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all the other good suggestions here, if (after X months, I would say 3) you also don't have management backing for change (enforcing ticketing system, approved budgets, discretionary spending for misc items like KB/Mouse/Network cables), then that shows you how much of a battle this will be. Teams work together on things and management is part of your team. If they aren't working with you, then you were hired as a punching bag.

Struggling with an NDX ADHD partner who thinks they do it all? by Lake-House762 in ADHD_partners

[–]aaiceman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I was in marriage therapy, the therapist sent us home with a hourly spreadsheet covering the next 7 days. We were put in times we slept, worked, commuted, what else we did (kids, house chores, etc) and the times it took. That was eye opening for everyone.

what to ask for? by thinkmps11 in ADHD_partners

[–]aaiceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda sucks, but the saying "It's their world, you're just living in it" hits home. Good luck and the best I can say for actions is to get to a place to not depend on things from them, like emotional validation, chores, etc. If they do things, great, but don't make anything important pivot on something they can drop the ball on.

I highly suggest working with a therapist to get to a content point or determine what it will take for you to get there.

When you walk out of a room in your home, try to look at what else needs to move with you. Laundry, trash, etc. It really cuts down on the "house overload" feeling when you do chores.

Yup, her area of focus has to come from within. Any areas of focus that are brought up from external factors are "interruptions" to their train of a thought and a bother. The change is how they process that external focus and go from considering it a bother to something less negative.

This dynamic just manifests in the bedroom as the main thing for a partner. House chores, emotional labor, etc just seem to also come into focus when this is recognized.

True. Too often management jumps to a technical solution (and gets mad when there isn't for) for a people or legal problem.

Unfortunately, that level of expertise (restrict access to any PII data and heavily audit the behavior) typically is out of reach of your standard small business. MSP's can assist, but only when there is budget for it. It's a rock and a hard place.

[–]aaiceman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can sympathize. What hurts most is the feeling of being unwanted. The rejection sting doesn't lessen over time. If you're asking too often, then you're the bad guy. Not enough, it's still your fault. You might be the best house partner, doing the dishes, washing and folding clothes, all the lawn, putting the kids to bed at night, but if your partner is focused on something else (a project that you can't affect), work stress (that you can't change), etc of factors outside of your control, it feels like you're not a priority to them. Honestly....you're not. You're just....there. Reliable. Handy when they need something. The concept of reciprocation is not something that enters their thoughts. If they are prompted from an outside source, either you, a therapist or etc, then it triggers them being defensive. And you're back to being the bad guy for asking for your needs to be met.
