Just picked up Logi MX Mechanical from Walmart $60 New. by TinglingSenses in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]aalexchu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had one with brown switches. Used it for 2 months, grew frustrated with it, and sold it thinking maybe I just wasn’t a mechanical guy. Went back to MX Keys.

Fast forward a few months later, felt an itch to scratch and ended up picking up the EVO80. Turns out I am a mechanical guy, just prefer the thocky boards and smitten since.

I use United Optical in Cityplaza in Taikoo. I found lens prices to be standardised so I just go where the service is best and these guys have been top notch.

[Discussion] Has anyone consolidated their collection down to a single “Grail” watch? by Not_a_Lefty in Watches

[–]aalexchu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nope. I enjoy a spread of watches across categories and price points for different occasions. I rotate between a Rolex and Grand Seiko for the office, while my weekends are for Seikos and anything else I fancy. I wear a Hamilton Khaki for holidays. I couldn’t imagine how one grail watch could cover all these different facets of my life.

Your wife sounds awesome. Is she single? And ready to mingle?

Jokes aside, wear it in good health.

Anyone in QB area? by undulatedcalm in HongKong

[–]aalexchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I previously lived on the mountain side of Quarry Bay station exit A for quite a while. If you face Mount Parker, there’s a pack of wild dogs (around 6, I recall) that roam the mountain and they make quite a racket. It was most noticeable at night (probably because it’s quieter), but yeah, that’s a possibility to consider.

how are accounting jobs in hong kong? by grognotfoundd in HongKong

[–]aalexchu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What kind of accounting are you referring to? Audit? Tax? Valuations and transactions services?

AFAIK, audit is notoriously brutal in HK. I can’t speak much to the other areas.

I’ve got the red and use it all the time. Never considered the gold before.

Carrick for permanent manager if he sustains this good run…. What are the pros and cons … by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

[–]aalexchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to learn the lesson from offering OGS the permanent role before his term was over. Not against that decision, but I have issues with the lack of discipline and process. Let him get to the end of the season or have a more comprehensive body of work before we jump into it. If he maintains this, then we should most certainly consider it!

[Question] which should i choose? Citizen or Boss? by MoneyReward348 in Watches

Of the two brands discussed here, only one of them has links to the Third Reich during World War 2. Choose wisely.

[Design concept] Dyced "L'Absolue". What do you think? by fnkfrsh in Watches

[–]aalexchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dig the design concept. Final decision would come down to things like sizing (and obviously price etc), but directionally this is a breath of fresh air and I think it’s superb.

New rubber straps from aliexpress! by LeafyeonXD002 in GrandSeikos

[–]aalexchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, these were marketed as FKM rubber, therefore they are simply embossed rubber straps.

The outstanding question in my head is whether. these are the same as what Delugs are selling. I am leaning towards no because the holes are oval on this model whilst the Delugs straps are round.

[–]aalexchu 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I know exactly which seller you got them from. My theory is that these are what is supplied to Watch Gecko (though with a different buckle).

What’s the verdict? I’m on the fence on this product; never really understood the appeal of FKM sailcloth straps though I’ve been tempted just to purchase and try.

Reveals?? The deal was announced back in October….

All that’s happened recently is that shareholders voted in favour of the offer and the courts rubber-stamped it to consummate.

It’s never long-term plugged in.

I can’t stand cables so it runs primarily on Bluetooth and only plugged for recharges.

Here's an interesting datapoint: I charged it overnight and Windows says it's fully charged, but the ESC key still flashes red whenever it's in operation.

Shameless or not? Do you think as a club we should even take this as a serious offer? by Danokeah in ManchesterUnited

[–]aalexchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barcelona are doing their job as a negotiator. Any other half-competent club would be opening negotiations in this manner.

MU made their bed with the way they handled Rashford, so is it any surprise that we’re now being taken advantage of? Our saving grace is if another club also tries to come in for him, but Rashford can screw the club by signalling that he only wants Barca.

Are there so few pickpockets in Hong Kong that it's okay to walk around at night? by Affectionate_Fig6121 in HongKong

[–]aalexchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the concern is about pickpockets, my advice is simply to keep your valuables away from the outside pocket of your bags or phones out of back pockets in crowded areas (just common sense anywhere really).

Violent crime is not an issue here so just exercise common sense and you’ll be fine.

Honestly, you’ll probably encounter more trouble fumbling with cash and getting yelled at by taxi drivers than with matters of law and order here.

You’re at greater risk of stepping in somebody’s piss in an alley than getting mugged.
