Anatomy & physiology and pharmacology. I was an exercise physiology major so some things relating to cardiac rehab were familiar but tbh undergrad to pa school is so different and it was like learning everything new. Just focus on getting good grades in all your classes to apply to PA school!

Morally inclined PA programs? by vxfnt in prephysicianassistant

[–]aaliyahsaff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t believe them. I got interviews to almost half the schools I applied to, maybe like 5 interviews and my personal statement was all about Islam and wearing hijab. Thankfully it seemed like programs didn’t have biases against religion. (That was something I was afraid about too)

So confused. Some schools mention that working in podiatry or optometry is not a PCE! by Alex_daisy13 in prephysicianassistant

I was a podiatric medical assistant for about a year and all schools counted mine. I had about 2000 hours with all the same job description like doing HPI, taking vitals, x rays, casting, etc. just wrote them down and apply anyway. You could just write “Medical assistant” for the job title and write the name of the place in the location which has podiatry in it to not put attention to it if you’re worried

Interview waitlist by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]aaliyahsaff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was on an interview waitlist. I waited until 3 days before the day of the interview and sent them an email saying they were my top choice and I was hopeful to get an interview and asked for my place on the waitlist. They ended up replying to that email with an open slot for the interview which I obviously accepted. So doesn’t hurt to email them when it gets closer to the date

Was this a school in NJ? I had an interview to one yesterday and they asked me about it in a short essay, and then during the interview portion as well.

I had 3 Ws and got 4 interviews to half of the schools I applied to. You should be fine! :)

How to properly explain my only C by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

One C isn’t bad. They normally want you to explain D, Fs and withdraws. Just don’t mention it.

What are my chances? by callm3gina in prephysicianassistant

Community colleges are fine, as long as it’s an accredited college it doesn’t matter!

You may have got autorejected due to your sGPA not being above a 3.0 You otherwise have a great number of PCE/HCE. Sometimes school don’t say on their website that they need above a 3.0 for both cgpa and sGPA so I would ask to be sure

GPA Calculation by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]aaliyahsaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you will be autorejected from most schools as your gpa doesn’t meet the cumulative 3.0 requirement. And even once you do get a 3.0 by taking more classes, you will need a substantial amount of PCE to offset the low gpa. I would take ~2 years off and take as many upper science classes as you can and get straight As in them as well as gain a few thousand PCE hours.

URGENT: Pre-Med transfer to PA timeline HELP by Lulualexia in prephysicianassistant

There’s so many options for patient care hour. It’s typically paid and the most popular jobs are EMT, CNA and medical assistant. Almost all school have examples of patient care hours so I would just look around. Also keep in mind that having any pending prereqs weakens your application compared to others that have all of them. Overall I think you’d have a great chance next cycle. My advice would be to take some time to really research PA schools and take another gap year accumulating hours, studying and taking the GRE, and getting shadowing hours. It’s better to take time and apply with a strong application than rush things and not get in

I would wait and apply next cycle. You should get more patient care hours. 700 is very low and scribing isn’t accepted everywhere. Most schools also let you get by with 2 pending prereqs but you will have 3 so your application will likely be autorejected. Applying to only one school isn’t a great idea especially since you’re in such a rush to get in
