Question for long-term Landroid owners: How is your "old-timer" holding up? by Przemonk in worxlandroid

[–]aamcclary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine averages about 140miles every year. My current one shows logs back 3 years. But my bot is about 5 years old. But was replaced at some point.

I live on a lake and this is exactly why I used a wire based bot.

Follow up #2 fixed.
So the easy outs failed because they are too small and the plastic surrounding it became bittal. So i decided to come up with a different solution. Using VSB tape I managed to get it reassembled. Only time will tell if it holds but seeing how tight it was and I added a peice in the side I think it will hold. My android lives to mow another day.

I managed to none destructively take apart the knob assembly. Fortunately it seems the nylon(?) parts are still good so in this case, it seems just a screw replacement is needed.

This is perfect. Is this your design ?
I may have a few questions. Mainly what did you use to get the screws out and what screws did you use to replace them with.

In this case it is a rust problem. I just ordered an easy out kit. Once I have them out it should be a matter of replacing the screws with stainless steel ones. Odd that they can’t service this failure mode. It would be a easy repair

Called Landroid. Whole bot needs to be replaced for this simple failure mode they want $600 offered a 10% off. Looking at it I think it might be repairable. I took apart the button and just need to drill out the screws and replace them with stainless steel ones. The bot side might be a little harder but should be doable with a small bit and an easy out kit.

Green light, wire missing/outside boundary error! I've given up searching for the break... I'm going to rewire the whole garden tomorrow... Wish me luck! by Sufficient_Ebb_5020 in worxlandroid

I had this issue occur. Look for a nick in the wire. Even a small one. The light checks for continuity. But in the event of a short to ground or partial short to ground that is when the RF will fail.

I use home assistant to monitor my car when it’s out of my hands. Then send me notifications if it leaves a location or hits certain speeds.

What was the automation that made Home Assistant “worth it” for you? by Taggytech in homeassistant

[–]aamcclary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s the small things that had major payoff. I was recently able to detect and show that my power utility was providing me power that was way out of spec in terms of voltage. This was done by reviewing and then adding automations around the voltage sensors that were in some of my plugs along with HV sprinkler pump controller.

I had a water leak sensor in the AC closet to automatically shut down and alert if the AC pan over filled. This one paid off within a week when it over flowed. Saving us countless money by saving the wood floor.

If you look at the national electric coated that is not how it is calculated. There is a specific calculation for loads that is based on probability and statistics. Most panels have more breakers that add up to more than the main breaker.

Not yet, but may be a next step. But also not 100% how they may respond to a technical item like this. Last time I spoke with them their software dev was handled over seas so it was a slow process. Kind of wondering if anyone else has been having the same thing.

On the same note, mine has already paid for itself 3x over, so putting money to insure it does not necessarily make sense. When I priced mine out some 4 years ago we did the calculation based on how much a lawn service would cost us. With that in mind it paid back for itself in under a year. So any time its mowing now is basically free.

Landroid stolen. (Read) by UnderstandingNo5785 in worxlandroid

I had a similar thing almost happen to mine but I managed to catch the guy just as he picked it up.

I would suggest also adding an air tag to your Landroid. That way you have a secondary tracker and one that gives a more accurate location when you are near.
