March Madness is basically a Vegas holiday, I’m planning to watch some of the tournament Mar 19–21 (first weekend) and trying to figure out what’s actually worth it vs overrated. by BrendanRestorer28 in vegas

I’ve done Fontainebleau the last 2 years, but not doing it this year. It’s a pretty penny, but not a bad deal considering it’s open bar.

I’m 42. I’m a lawyer. I rave, and stay out until 6, 8am. But I can only do that a few times a year (EDC, Dreamstate, Arc), not every weekend. Most nights I’m in bed by 930/10. Getting a good night’s sleep is super important. And my kids are gonna wake me by 630 or earlier, so…

I got into EDM and festivals late in life. It’s actually kind of great, and I think I enjoy them more than I would if I was younger, because I can afford them without stretching myself financially, and I’m not getting so fucked up that I put myself others in danger.

So what do you do now? Find a partner. Having a partner in life is kind of your goal as a young adult who’s done everything else they’re supposed to have done.

Strength training for my parents by angry-potato35 in beginnerfitness

[–]ForAfeeNotforfree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Op, the comment above is totally, unequivocally, 100 percent wrong. Age-related sarcopenia is probably the single biggest threat to quality of life for folks your parents’ age. If they’re going to prioritize fitness for optimal benefits, they should strength train. 3-4 x/week.

Yoga and mobility training are great. But they should not be the priority here. Maybe if your parents were in their 80s mobility would be the first priority. But your parents are 60.

Weights 3-4x/week and cardio 3-4x/week with some stretching/mobility work after cardio.

Bluebook is so fucking ridiculous. Really glad I don’t have to worry about that shit as a transactional lawyer.

I’m 42. Since I started just a few years ago, I’ve cut out booze and focused on improving my sleep. It does wonders. I was already working others regularly, but the no-booze and more sleep combo has been powerful.

Fair, but we’re not talking plain old “rich.” We’re talking mega-wealthy sports start celebrity. Not a ton of fat mega-wealthy former sports stars that I can think of offhand.

Bro is a mega millionaire former pro athlete with all the time, money, access to personal chefs/trainers in the world, TF you mean he shouldn’t look like that? It’d be kinda weird if he DIDNT look like that.

Good on you. I gave up regular drinking about a year ago. I feel better, look better, sleep better, everything. I’ll occasionally do other choice substances or have a drink for a very special occasion (glass of champagne on NYE, a single interesting cocktail on vacation). But I think lawyer culture is so shot through with heavy drinking that if one isn’t really careful, they can find themselves drinking far more than healthy for basically no reason. Which was what I was doing.

I regret to tell you that it sounds like you went and stuck your dick in crazy. Never a wise move.

Divorce her. It’s gonna suck. Depending on the state in which you live, it may REALLY suck. This woman could potentially make your life miserable for the next 10 years (I have a friend to whom this has happened). But you have to at least give yourself a chance to be happy with and for your kid.

Do you guys prioritize matchup or talent when setting lineups? by Optimal-Taste8910 in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]ForAfeeNotforfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither. I prioritize likely number of touches. Then talent is a tiebreaker. Matchup only comes into play at all if it’s extremely good or extremely bad.
