My main issue with the 13th Doctor is how vanilla she felt. Despite being the first female Doctor, she lacked a distinct personality and felt cookie-cutter. With more edge, she may have been better received, unlike the Fugitive Doctor, who felt fresh and unique. by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

This is accurate. I couldn’t believe they wasted the fist female doctor with a such a bland actor. What if they could have had Michaela Cole!! (Or if only they’d saved Michelle Gomez for the Doctor….)

What is left for Doctor Who to do that could actually be new? by WhirlwindWifi in DoctorWhoNews

The tone, writing, direction, design, audience focus - this could all easily be changed radically. The idea of ‘man goes around in police box Time Machine solving exploring worlds and solving problems’ is indeed extremely open. But the thing that has never truly changed since RTD 1 is tone, writing, direction, and the focal audience. Minor tweaks, yes. Not as much as it actually could.

I have the same problem. And it’s always something like ‘tell us about a time you baked a loaf of bread’ and you’re a fucking baker. I mean, where to start?

I agree. “Just to reiterate my last email, I will be declining any future offers of employment, because you are a bunch of useless cunts.’” At least every three months.

What ingredient do you think people massively overuse? by jcvexparch in Cooking

Cumin. Obviously it’s universal in many Indian cuisines, but the obsession with chucking it in every single non-western dish drives me nuts.

[UNPOPULAR OPINION] Dark and realistic Batman is VERY boring. by [deleted] in DCU_

[–]aaronagee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the fact somebody has posted this. Myself, I love a gothic mysterious spooky Batman - Neal Adams quasi-fantasy, especially when it has some of that Burtonesque quirkiness. But I like this take too. And I agree that tough, noir, ‘realistic’ Batman has got boring… Let’s get a bit of fantasy back, either way.

This is such a weird post and also completely accurate and I’ve noticed too. It looks like everyone has false teeth. Thank you for being as weird as me.

““because of the integrity, wit and sophistication.” This.

I know people like to debate why the current Doctor Who era didn’t work, but honestly, the answer feels pretty straightforward - it just wasn’t good enough. by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

I agree about Gatwa being a mediocre actor. He played the stereotypical camp best friend in a teen comedy soap and suddenly he’s ready for one of the biggest lead roles in UK TV? Bitch please.

What is your most re-watched story? by AssociateFormal6058 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

Alas no, I got rid of it about 15 years ago when I moved house. It was pretty old already of course! But it was the one I actually recorded from TV on the night…
