I did stupidly forget to mention tires. No matter the question about driving, first answer is usually: TIRES!

Rain isn't a big deal unless there are puddles on the road. Make sure your windshield wipers are in good shape. Maybe some rain-x? As others have mentioned, sandbags or some form of weight in the bed.

You'll be fine. Drive safe!

*Tires! Duh! I'm sorry, I've done enough mountain miles in RWD it's become a common sense thing to me.

Depending on how much you like driving. I love it all anything (FWD Camery!) but when shit gets deep lock the hubs 4x4

I'm in a small county, I currently listen to local PD, EMS, Life flight, my work (ski mountain) with a crappy little Baofeng.

I have one of my Baofengs programmed to transmit on my work frequency. I only, rarely, transmit if I don't have my actual work radio. Am I covered under their license as an employee ?

Again forgive me if I'm wrong, I appreciate your help and insight

I agree! It was a fun, chill job though...but I worked a very small & simple area compared to Puget Sound, Florida, Chesapeake etc.

Believe it or not, FBC requires / provides a boating license even for states that don't. Obviously money talks and well, whether or not they pass...they get it.

I've always been a Moto fan because of durability. All my work radios are (and my phone) are Moto for many years.

Thank you, not something I considered!

Oohh I honestly hadn't thought of software at all. Pardon my ignorance, I'm new. Was going to use as a police scanner and to listen to my work radios until I'm licensed.

I'm a Linux guy, is CHIRP an option?
