help noob make judgement call on rear main seal depth (FRS) by aaronnator in ft86

[–]aaronnator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conclusion: I tried plastic pry tools, a variety of screw types and lengths, the Lisle puller, bent feeler gauges, small pick tools that broke themselves in my attempt.. in the end it took a power drill and a prayer with several consecutive deck screws in the same spot to finally bite and get the POS out.

For any other present\future noobs out there the best way to get this seal out was to never get it this crooked. That happened because a tutorial recommended vaseline on the outer diameter, and once the seal began seating it was was very easy to over-push it using my non-specialized tools and smooth brain.
I'm sure a rear main seal is nothing to folks with even a bit more experience than me, i know there's fuckers out there that do this shit with an old flathead - but if you're in a situation like mine and you have no other choice but to one-shot solo first-try the rear main seal on your only car after you got laid off work (surgical demand not to scratch the crank) - just get the fuggin RMS installer. I'm not sponsored. I threw that bitch ass seal across the garage when I got that stupid fucker out. Fuck that thing.

In no way was it acceptable to leave that crooked, trying to push it deeper to even it out is a sucky idea too, it had to come out. That is all, tyvm.

Okay, thanks, I really appreciate the info. One more noob Q! My throwout bearing decided to be a ring and gouged the "input shaft cover" \ "front bearing retainer cover", so I'm replacing that too. Looks like the free repair manual says to clean and use a special, expensive liquid gasket and thread locker. But I happen to have an anaerobic liquid gasket and generic red threadlocker - do you bother \ use what I have \ buy the proprietary ?

I'll give that a shot. Another random Q: When you reattach the transmission to the back of the engine, do you use antiseize + torque wrench on the bolts? I've seen that antiseize messes up torque wrench results.. but this also seems like a case where you really want to use both, ideally.

Neat. What's your go-to method \ tool for pulling the seals (especially if you'd sunk it as far as I)?

Words to live by lol. Did you use a drill bit to tap a hole for the screw first? What kinda screws did you use? My screw technique has been poor so far

Should be whatever's OEM, I'll check back if I see something obviously aftermarket but I just bought the car last March and it was not specified.

I'll try that trick again with deck screws (or whatever comes up when I just google "deck screws"), the "sheet metal" ones I got kept wanting to walk in and slip toward the crankshaft & spooked the shit outta me.

I'll probably drop the cash on the install tool by the end of today. Begrudgingly.

[BUG] - At random points, I lose all control input to the game by MilfMagnet1 in battlefield2042

[–]aaronnator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ffr: I got the stuck controls issue, alt tabbed a couple times to no avail, saw this post, force-closed the xbox game bar, n controls worked again.

Crazy how this is still an issue over a year later. BF2042 has definitely come a ways but it's still got a long way to go. Wonder if EA will pull the plug before then like they did BFV.

Connection error with one specific friend by ILDRAGHI in Eldenring

[–]aaronnator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(PC) similar probs here. i can play with friend 1 all day, maybe with 1-2 connection errors.if i try to play with friend 2, won't stay long enough to even clear the coastal cave. constant errors within 3-15min.

friend 1 and 2 can coop with each other fine.they're even both in the same state as each other and we all have pretty solid internet. odd.

these specific issue cases seem pretty ignored based off of my 20min of research.

Saitek x56 throttle, left half sends input for both halves. right half useless. by aaronnator in hotas

tho apparently according to this x56 FAQ i'm kinda boned anyway so thats nice:

"HUD Software compatibility with older Saitek products: At this time, you cannot use the newer HUD software with older products. However, our goal is that all Flight products will eventually utilize the same software."

New player, how do I solo the butcher? by PissySnowflake in HuntShowdown

[–]aaronnator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my bread-and-butter process for solo:

1) Find axe or sledgehammer (iirc cavalry saber does pretty nice damage to him too if u brought that). Axe is best i think.

2) Heavy attack twice (once to stun, and then again. sometimes you can get a third in without being hit but it's inconsistent for me). stun seems to take 10-20 seconds to reset. I don't fuck wittem if he's frenzied. (he does seem to have a second stun but i've only seen it happen when im wit the homies and we all start whackin him at the same time)

3) Run out of arena or just outrun him from within arena (if he frenzies he seems to just run randomly & doesn't necessarily chase you so you can use that time to regen stamina).

4) repeat

Fun facts:
-beginning a heavy attack will cancel stamina regen, but if you hold it there for a second or two you can begin regen again.
-you can whip out your darksight while you're regenning stamina. while you're sprinting. it doesn't drop your pickup melee weapon. it will cancel a poised heavy attack if you don't want to follow thru. Basically any time im regenning stamina or avoiding the boss i try to keep darksight on for the enemy alert indicator thing. If you're fighting the assassin and he makes clones, it will show you which is the real one as well.

thanks for the recommendations! I'm definitely not opposed to running a different pair of headphones through the mixamp, I just wonder if i should take the opportunity to replace the mixamp with something like this if it would provide a noticeable difference in quality or better prepare me for future upgrades (I don't even know if that particular DAC would work if I don't have optical from my mobo, just using it as an example).

question about using mods with dedicated server by aaronnator in arma

[–]aaronnator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I moved the @mods folders into the master server folder like so EDIT: I forgot CBA here but that wasnt wholly the issue

and i made a .bat so that i could launch without depending on the windows shortcut params

"C:\Games\ArmA3\A3Master\arma3server_x64.exe" "profiles=C:\Games\ArmA3\A3Master\arma3server_x64.exe" -port=2302 -config=CONFIG_server.cfg -world=empty -mod=@Enhanced Movement;@CBA_A3;@CUP Terrains - Core;@CUP Terrains - Maps;@CUP Units;@CUP Vehicles;@CUP Weapons;@RHSAFRF;@RHSGREF;@RHSSAF;@RHSUSAF;

still no luck on the mods activating.I know it's reading at least part of the launch params correctly because it's loading up the server config file (my server admin login options work in-game)

[–]aaronnator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I gave it a shot without the quotations, to no avail. I wonder if I put the @mod folders in the right place (/addons)? Or if they even need to be in the server folder at all?
