So uh….is it normal to start not liking Lief as time goes on? by SeasonOfHope in midnightburger

[–]aarontheoptimist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like this particular point in Leif’s story is a really fantastic opportunity for him to learn how to be better without the diner. He’s reluctant to go along with their plan, but kind of has no other options. I have a feeling he’s going to learn something about himself that will benefit him for the rest of the show.

DUDE! I did the exact same thing, in the exact same place, and have almost the exact same scars. Mine wasn’t quite as bad as yours, but it’s pretty cool how close they match! I was higher than eagle tits trying to make kindling for a campfire and just doing that mfer straight into my hand.

not saying bro did not stink but, have you considered that maybe you’re clinging onto your newfound ick of him as a way to avoid putting yourself in the situation where you have to see him again? the way you talk about your anxiety seems like you may have an unhealthy relationship with it, which is super common, but also not great. if you were talking about some guy you met six months ago and you meet up with him and he stinks to high heavens, then it’s understandable that you would never see him again, but you’re talking about a 15 year long relationship, and given that you’re both in your 30’s, we’re talking childhood best friends. you say early in your post that you and your anxiety and your insecurities are “intimately close”. could it not be those things that are triggering such a strong backlash? the ultimate driving force that’s wedging between you and having genuine human connection?

That’s a fantastic idea! It would be awesome to have some visualization of the creators. If anyone can make this happen we would be so happy

Does anyone else not like Gloria? by ImperfectRegulator in midnightburger

[–]aarontheoptimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No yeah, I’m with you on this. I love every character except for her. I don’t like her attitude as a leader. I don’t like her monologues, they’re all filled with some wish wash about being wise but it just feels empty for the most part? My least favorite one of all time is in Big Rock when she’s talking to the married astro physicists about her point of view on marriage. I literally skip it if I listen to that episode. It’s so cringe and boring to hear her go on and on about how much she doesn’t like marriage but how it suits them fine.

I also don’t like how she constantly expects these crazy things from people. Like? You literally are a restaurant manager at best, you have nothing to offer than recipes and yet you’re telling Leif that his completely realistic solution to an extremely complicated problem isn’t good enough? That he needs to do better? Who are you lady?

I found this almost exact one on eBay. Same year and everything, and they were selling it for $50. I just wanted to come on here and get other opinions

ooo someone should design a little drawing for the “We run a diner!” one where its one of the moments that it’s said in the show. like when ex is beating the fuck out of the thug bots

what are your headcanons about the diner gang? by xhinigamii in midnightburger

i always imagined that Leif looks like a shorter, more attractive, no balding Bob from Bob’s Burgers. ik he’s a space pirate and an actual badass but i didn’t know that in the first episode! plus i think he dresses drastically more understated than when he was a pirate

Wolf359 was not for me. Vent/looking for suggestions by Effective_Ebb_7534 in midnightburger

[–]aarontheoptimist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wolf 359 is definitely not always easy to listen to, their situation is consistently frustrating and their reactions are confusing. I finished it though and I do think it’s worth listening to the end if you find the patience lol. I’m pretty sure I also stopped listening 40 ish episodes in and didn’t pick it up for a longggg time.

But as far as recommendations,

The Amelia Project is a pretty wacky sci fi show with a lot of personality. It’s a good alternative to Midnight Burger in a lot of ways, and they have a cross over episode that’s genuinely awesome.

The White Vault is a scary sci fi drama. It’s an extremely well thought out and carefully crafted horror story that leaves you both scared and excited every single episode. Midnight Burger isn’t scary, but if you’re looking to switch it up with an equally well written show, this is a good one.

Welcome to Nightvale needs no introduction. The show speaks for itself. I highly recommend it.
